It was reported that Bostic, 25, was cruising past a home in Lafayette in July 2022, when he saw the inferno and ran inside.

He didn't think twice before putting himself through the fire to save the lives of an 18-year-old and two 13-year-olds, plus two children aged one and six.

Police reports reveal that four of the youngsters were siblings and one of the 13-year-olds was a friend sleeping over at the property.

Bostic, who was unable to call 911 as he didn’t have his phone on him, entered through the home’s back door and ran upstairs where he found the kids, ushering them out of the property.

Once he pulled everyone to safety, he was told that a 6-year-old girl was still stuck inside the property and so he ran back inside to find her.

Despite the thick smoke, Bostic located the girl and punched through a window so they could both get out.

Bostic was treated in hospital for a serious cut to his arm and severe smoke inhalation, according to Indiana police, but was later discharged.

Speaking to ABC7 Chicago, Bostic shared about the incident and revealed that the kids’ dad had offered to buy him dinner.

Police officials also released body-cam footage that shows Mr Bostic coming out with the last child.

“The dad said he’d love to take me out for dinner. They have wide-open arms welcoming me as a part of their family,” Bostic shared.

“I’m glad I was there at the right time, the right place. If [the] opportunity came again and I had to do it, I would do it.

“I knew what I was risking. I knew the next second it could be my life. But every second counted.”

Lafayette Police Lt. Randy Sherer confirmed the blaze broke out at around 12:30 am on 11 July 2022 and hailed Bostic's actions as ‘heroic’.

Lafayette Police released a statement that said in part: “Nicholas happened to be driving by the block of Union Street when he noticed a house on fire.

“He immediately stopped in the roadway, threw his car into reverse, turned around and pulled into the driveway.

“He knew he had to act. He ran around to the back of the home and was able to open the back door. He began yelling inside [but] didn’t receive an answer.

“He walked through the house, calling out the danger, and eventually made his way up the stairs. He found four kids and helped them escape from the house.”

In another heroic incident, Isaac Marshall saved his family last year after he screamed for help after spotting flames in the property hallway.

The kid woke up at about 5.45 am on Sunday morning to find the hallway of his family’s home in Middlesbrough on fire.

The eight-year-old opened a window and started screaming for help while his family slept.

A friend who happened to be passing heard the screams and helped with the rescue. Two passing paramedics, who were returning from a shift, also rushed into the house to help save those inside.

Police later reported that a 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He was later released on bail.

Isaac's mom Charlie Loughran said she and partner Lewis Bond were utterly unaware of the blaze until they were woken up and dragged from the house by rescuers.

The mom said she can never return to the property again.

"I won't be able to go back and I couldn't put my son through it. It's badly affected him, he was saying, 'What if I hadn't woken up? It's really got to him, he can't get those pictures out of his head." she said.
