A group of Indiana apartment residents took law into their own hands and decided to beat up a would-be robber and kept him under their custody with their own weapons until the police arrived at the crime scene to arrest him.

Kokomo police reported that Marrell Tyler, 18, received multiple facial injuries when he broke into the Annex of Kokomo apartments on Thursday at 3:25 a.m.

Kokomo Police Department

Police reached the scene of the crime quickly and upon arriving they saw Tyler beaten up badly and held at gunpoint. It is reported that there were three men already inside the apartment when the robber first entered.

The men told police that Tyler had entered the apartment wearing a ski mask and pointing a gun at them. They jumped him, knocking away the gun and pinning him down.

Tyler then pulled out another gun and that went off, but no one got injured. Then another man grabbed his own gun to subdue Tyler until police could arrive.

Tyler and the residents received multiple facial injuries, but only Tyler required immediate medical attention. The robber was beaten up so badly that the police first took him to the hospital before taking him to Howard County Criminal Justice Center for holding.

Police later arrested Tyler on burglary charges and that is considered a level 2 felony.
