An insurance agent who was fired for using a client’s home bathroom got revenge in the perfect way. He said he only used the bathroom after being at the client’s space for hours and getting the entire family signed up on their plans.
Insurance Agent Fired For Using Client’s Bathroom
This Redditor shared their experience of being fired from their job because they used a client's bathroom.
The Redditor said that they had been busy at the client’s home for over 3 hours ensuring all family members were signed up for their insurance. During that time they’d been offered two cups of coffee which they couldn’t refuse as per company policy.
Just before exiting the home, they used the bathroom and made their way back to work.
"She then offered for me to use her restroom and showed it to me. I peed for like 30 seconds. Washed my hands. Finished up and then left."
What they didn’t know about how an off-hand comment about drinking coffee and using the bathroom would get them fired.
"I randomly mentioned to a coworker of mine when I got back to the office how I've drank more coffee in the past week than I have my entire life. Then mentioned me using the bathroom."
The information reached the director of the company who said that was a “big no-no” and fired them.
"Apparently this is a "big no-no" (my director's words) and they told me I didn't have a place with the company anymore."
The Redditor then asked the community what else they could have done in that situation.
"What was I supposed to do!? [Pee] myself or drive frantically to the nearest gas station???"
This user who worked in a similar client-facing job said that they've had to manage their bathroom needs differently based on the situation. They did however mention is that being fired for this was insane.
"I’ve used customers' bathrooms a thousand times. I work in water damage restoration, where I can be in a customer's home from 8-5. Situationally dependent, I’ve also driven to gas stations or taken a dookie in my trailer (gotta do what you gotta do).
But that is an absolutely insane reason to be fired. The only situation it would be valid is if you pissed and shat all over their floor and used their good towels to wipe it up."
Others were mostly annoyed with the coworker who snitched and cost OP their job.
"Your coworker is a kiss ass. Unless you were overheard why would that person go run and tell on you?"
Ultimately, it seems OP was better off not working for this company. This user was of the same view.
"Sounds like you dodged a bullet. If the director/company is this unreasonable about using someone’s bathroom can you even imagine what other crazy “rules” they have? I own my own home repair business and as much as I try to avoid using peoples restrooms out of politeness sometimes it’s just unavoidable. Sorry to hear of you losing your job of this. I hope you find a better job that isn’t managed or over seen by an unreasonable fuck."
OP has since deleted their post.
