#1 Going Really Green

You might think that buying an electric car is the only way to go green when it comes to what you drive, but that's totally not the case. This new invention called the PodRide will soon be a viable alternative to owning a gas guzzling or electricity burning automobile.

#2 Oh What It Can Do

This Swedish designer Mikael Kjellman, who loves bicycling and works as an engineer, came out with an awesome prototype for transportation. He lives in Sweden and the weather is not always very bicycle-friendly. So he designed and built a four-wheeled bike with full fabric body to keep dry and warm in all types of weather.

#3 Testing For A Full Year

He has have driven it to work every day for a year now and it has proven to be a very practical and comfortable little vehicle. And even though it is tiny, it does go fast when you need to be there on time.

#4 All The Comforts Of A Full Sized Car

PodRide is a velomobile that is meant to be a practical everyday vehicle.

It has approximately the same seating position and seat height as a small car, allowing easy access and good visibility in traffic. It has four wheels to be narrow enough for bicycle paths but still be stable in the curves.

It has a full waterproof body to keep you warm and dry in any weather, heated windshield, soft seat with back support, air suspension and studded tires in winter. A small trunk for your shopping bags and a tow bar for a bike trailer when you want to bring your kids.

#5 Road Ready And No Licence Required

Going up hills is no longer a problem! Peddling is only required on the open road, the little motor will get you up steep hills and through snow or mud easily.

The motor and control system are from a standard e-bike system and should make it a street legal bike in most countries. And may then be operated on bicycle paths and without a driver's license. They are very convenient for people in suburban areas who may be driving only to the store or to work, and even have a small storage area in the rear for a bag or two.

#6 PodRide Could Be The Next Big Thing In Transportation

The PodRide is sturdy and comfortable and can be driven just about anyplace. Bicycle Cars are practical, good for your health, cheap to run, good for the environment and fun to drive. They require no new and advanced technology to work and they would not cost much if they were mass-produced. Mikael is selling the kits to DIY builders so they create their own projects but has hope to see the PodRide the next big idea in transportation.

#7 Speed Away At 25 KM Per Hour

The auto is 180 cm in length and 75cm wide. The entire thing only weighs 70kg, and can travel up to 25km/h (with motor) at 60km range. It houses a 250W electric motor that is partially regenerated by your own foot power. Steering is done by levers on the side. Mikael hopes that by building and running practical, fun and good looking bicycle-cars like PodRide, we can get bicycle-cars to one day become a popular and mass-produced vehicle.
