Jamie Foxx Still In Hospital Three Weeks After Medical Emergency As Family Ask For Prayers

As Jamie Foxx has been in the hospital for three weeks following a medical emergency, his family has asked for prayers.

A "serious medical complication" caused the actor to be hospitalized starting on April 11, a source said.

While in Atlanta filming his next Netflix feature Back in Action, the 55-year-old actor is alleged to have required quick medical attention and was rushed to the hospital.

Charles Alston, a close friend of Jamie's, sent a message on Instagram requesting prayers for the actor.

Charles urged readers to remember Jamie in their prayers and mentioned the following in a post: "We need you back Bro. As I always state a true champion isn't the one that wins, it's the one that meets & overcomes adversity!! You're test becomes your testimony!!"

He continued: "We all can't wait to receive you back home to celebrate, laugh with, and applaud you!!"

Following the medical condition, a source claimed that it was initially "touch and go."

"Jamie suffered a serious medical episode and needed immediate attention. It was touch and go for days with him, and he had to be revived — he is very lucky to be alive!"

The source further described how his life was probably saved by doctors.

"He's very lucky he got the treatment he did. Jamie suffers from high blood pressure, which doctors say can cause clots in the brain leading to a stroke.”

"Doctors believe this was a long time coming, and really, if they hadn't acted fast, Jamie might well have been a goner," the source told RadarOnline.

Jamie has reportedly made good progress toward recovery and has been supported by his family throughout his health problem.

His daughter Corinne previously updated followers on Instagram about her father's health.

She wrote: "We wanted to share that my father Jamie Foxx experienced a medical complication yesterday.”

"Luckily due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time."

Following Jamie's hospitalization, it has been reported that there have been "changes in production" on the Back in Action set.

Many of the actor's popular friends, including Kerry Washington, LeBron James, Martin Lawrence, and Nick Cannon, have expressed their best wishes in the open.
