Our bosses may be in charge of many things, but what we decide to eat for lunch is out of their jurisdiction. It is extremely unprofessional for this employer to feel she has the right to dictate what her employee is allowed to eat, especially after making sexist comments that this employee can’t know how to cook just because he’s a man.

Reddit

A user named 'BleachBasedCocktail' recently shared on Reddit how petty his boss has become just because she's jealous of his impressive cooking skills. He started by telling that he usually brings soup for lunch to lose some weight.

But his boss loves to cook and loves getting compliments for that.

You can get things you want if you compliment her cooking as it puts her in a great mood.

Once she was ranting about how the culinary world is dominated by men and she would've been a Michelin star if it wasn't for sexism.

OP found her delusional because there are many female celebrity chefs and she doesn't even own a restaurant.

But then she targeted OP saying he wouldn't even know how to reheat leftovers.

OP felt disrespected and told her that he actually cooks at home. She mocked him for his cooking skills saying she feels sorry for his fiance. So OP started making lovely lunches to get back at her.

He started getting compliments at lunch table which p****d the Karen off.

OP kept at it after seeing her reaction.

And she got so jealous and insecure that she stooped to a new level of petty. She callled him in and told him that she's getting complaints about his 'elaborate lunches', so he can't bring them anymore.

When OP said he'll tell others not to bring homemade lunches, she said this rule was exclusively for him.

When he asked for it in writing she declined. So he refused to follow the order if it isn't in writing. Now this is some weird workplace drama.

If this employee is actually punished or scolded for continuing to pack his own lunches, it could qualify as harassment, depending on the severity of the situation. Now, not all harassment in the workplace is technically illegal, according to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, but it should always be reported, so it can be shut down.

Readers called out the boss for her ridiculous rule.

Reddit

One user questioned her authority on making such rule.

Other told him to make his lunches more elaborate.

Others told him to ask for compenstion from his boss if he can't bring food from home.

At the end of the day, what we bring for lunch has absolutely nothing to do with how well we perform our jobs, and it shouldn’t be anyone else’s business. As long as you get your work done and don’t bother any of your colleagues, bon appétit!
