The 39-year-old "Somebody Save Me" artist is making waves, not just for his music but for his impressive health journey, all while keeping his favorite foods that fuel him for energetic performances.
Singer and rapper Jelly Roll has surprised and impressed his fans with significant weight loss, marking an important step in his path toward better health under the guidance of his personal chef.
On October 21, Jelly Roll shared a video on Instagram that featured his chef, Ian Larios, discussing the dedication and hard work the musician is putting into his health during the "Beautifully Broken" tour.
Larios shared how Jelly Roll is keeping active on the road, incorporating exercises like basketball, boxing, and even climbing the stairs at each arena to stay fit.
He also highlighted how these activities have helped Jelly Roll achieve impressive results in his fitness journey.
"He just surpassed his 100-pound weight loss," Larios mentioned, emphasizing the artist’s commitment to making these changes.
To go hand-in-hand with his workout routine, Jelly Roll has embraced a new approach to his diet as well.
Larios noted that before shows, Jelly Roll enjoys one of his go-to snacks.
The "Best For Me" singer reaches for a simple yet energizing snack of sliced bananas drizzled with honey and topped with dark chocolate.
After performances, Larios shared that the musician opts for high-protein meals like chicken breast coated with either rice or potato flour.
These nutrition-focused choices have played a significant role in his health journey.
In the video, Jelly Roll opened up about how determined he is, saying, "Next year when y'all see me, you won't recognize me."
He also expressed excitement about pushing even further with his fitness, stating, "I'm going to get under a pile of weights in a way that I never had."
Larios’ update quickly caught the attention of fans, who took to social media to show their support and encouragement.
One fan wrote, "So happy he's beginning to take care of his body!! Love him and want him to live forever!!"
Another chimed in, "❤️❤️❤️ His passion is contagious. Good for him and his weight loss!" while someone else gushed, "Can't love this guy any more than I already do. !!!! He's the real deal ❤️ [sic]."
A fourth person cheered him on with, "Keep it up!! You're doing great, one step at a time and you got this!"
Fans also pointed out the noticeable transformation in Jelly Roll’s appearance, with one person saying, "You look amazing. You're absolutely killing it. I noticed a few weeks ago when I was watching a video how much you have thinned down you can tell it in your body and your face. Way to go Jelly keep it up ❤️."
In addition to the overwhelming fan reactions, Larios has been vocal about Jelly Roll’s progress throughout the tour. On September 16, he shared on Instagram that the singer has been "absolutely crushing" in his health journey.
Larios added, "The habits he's been building are truly life changing and he's doing this while also changing lives on this 56 city tour. Excited for him to show the world he's just getting warmed up [sic]!"
Jelly Roll’s commitment to better health extends beyond his tour life and has been a continuous journey.
In May 2024, the "Whitsitt Chapel" artist reached another significant milestone by completing his first 5K run.
He participated in the 2 Bears 5K, which was part of the "Netflix Is a Joke" comedy festival organized by comedians Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer.
Reflecting on the event, Jelly Roll said, "I couldn't walk a mile when I started trying to do this back in January,"
Jelly Roll enthusiastically talked about the positive impact he had on others during the run, mentioning how many participants were inspired and motivated by his presence.
He also described the fun and lively atmosphere at the event, noting that there were people in bear suits and some enjoying beers alongside those reaching personal bests.
The experience left Jelly Roll feeling "really motivated" to continue working on his health. He shared that he and Kreischer even got emotional as they crossed the finish line together.
However, he also admitted he felt "a little tired,", adding, "It was a little bit harder than I thought it was [going to be], but it's awesome, man."
Looking ahead, Jelly Roll made a declaration, "Next year, a half marathon! We're saying it now, absolutely!"
To prepare for the 5K, Jelly Roll had been training with dedication.
In April, he revealed that he had been doing two to three miles of walking or jogging four to six days a week.
He also included 20 to 30 minutes in the sauna and six minutes in a cold plunge as part of his routine.
"I'm probably down 70-something pounds," he said about his efforts.
Jelly Roll showed confidence and excitement about losing even more weight.
"If I feel this good down this weight, man, I can only imagine what I'm going to feel like by the time I go on tour," he expressed.
A significant part of his motivation came from fans who were concerned about his health.
Some of this worry came after his wife, Bunnie XO, mentioned that he stepped back from social media due to bullying related to his weight.
Reflecting on that tough period, Jelly Roll shared, "I feel incredible. I'm surrounded by friends and family."
On top of his health milestones this year, Jelly Roll continues to make his mark in the music world.
He has already picked up awards from iHeartRadio Music Awards and Country Music Television (CMT) Music Awards.
Additionally, he earned his first four nominations for the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards.
Whether it is his music or his health, Jelly Roll’s inspiring journey continues to motivate fans who cheer him on every step of the way, eagerly awaiting what’s next in his story.
