The singer and actress opened up about her dating life and what’s changed since her split from her husband in a new interview.
Jessica Simpson has spoken honestly about her love life, giving fans a glimpse into what dating looks like for her now. It marks the first time she’s been this open about her romantic life since her recent separation.
The star began talking about her return to acting but soon found herself reflecting on her own experiences off-screen. During a chat about her new TV series, All’s Fair, she admitted that art and life have started to overlap in some unexpected ways.
At the Los Angeles premiere of the Hulu drama, Simpson discussed how stepping back into acting brought her face-to-face with certain emotions and experiences she hadn’t explored in years — both professionally and personally.
Speaking with Extra, Simpson teased that her fans would see her take on a few passionate moments in the new show, while also admitting that her own romantic life has been evolving since the split. She joked about how filming certain scenes felt oddly familiar and exciting at the same time.
During the conversation, she was asked about one particular scene where she kisses a man much older than her and whether that mirrored her real-life preferences now. Laughing, she shared: "You know, I have never made out with a man that much older than me. It wasn't terrible."
When asked — somewhat playfully — if this meant she might now be drawn to men in their seventies, Simpson laughed off the idea and responded: "I don't know about that."
She went on to explain her current outlook on dating and attraction, saying: "But I think I am into younger men at the moment, when you are newly separated, I feel like younger guys like the confidence of an older women, I am discovering."

"I am having fun right now."
Earlier this year, in January, Simpson confirmed that she and her husband of nearly a decade, former NFL player Eric Johnson, had officially decided to separate. The announcement came just before what would have been their tenth wedding anniversary, marking the end of one of Hollywood’s more low-profile marriages.
In her public statement, she revealed that the decision had been mutual and that they were both focused on navigating the situation with care and respect for one another.
The official statement read: "Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage."
"Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family."
The couple shares three children together — daughters Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, who is now 13, Birdie Mae, 6, and their son Ace Knute, 12. Despite the split, Simpson has emphasized that their kids remain their top priority and that both parents are committed to keeping their family life stable and loving.

It’s not entirely clear when Simpson and Johnson began living separately, but reports suggest they had been apart for several months before the public announcement. In fact, Johnson was photographed without his wedding ring back in November 2024, sparking speculation long before the news became official.
Interestingly, only a year before that, Simpson had described her marriage in glowing terms. In a 2023 interview with People, she spoke about the depth of her connection with Johnson and how much he had meant to her through the years.
At the time, she said: "A true love will never make you question yourself or what's real. Thanks to my amazing soulmate, I am able to love passionately and without fear of being hurt."
She also mentioned then that her husband understood her heart better than anyone she had ever known.
Her words painted a picture of deep affection — one that makes her current openness about starting over and dating again all the more significant.
