Johnny Depp has once again cleared that he has no plan of returning to the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise. During the defamation trial, Depp briefly talked about the disappointment he faced from Disney's behavior and how even if he is offered $300 million and a million alpacas, he won't return to the movie as Captain Jack Sparrow.
Johnny Depp Denies Rumors Of His Return To Pirates Of The Caribbean
Johnny Depp has no plans on returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and he has made it clear.
Depp's representative shoot down the rumors around the actor's return to the movie and cleared that Depp won't be taking up Captain Jack Sparrow's role anytime soon.
Calling the rumors 'made up,' apparently, the actor is done with the role now, E! Online reports.
The rumors first appeared in PopTopic and it stated that the actor was offered a whopping $301million for his comeback.
Additionally, the rumor even claimed that Disney is also preparing to apologize to Depp.
This is in reference to a moment during the defamation trial where Depp shared how he felt betrayed by Disney's actions towards him and now even if he is offered $300 million and a million alpacas he won't be doing the movie.
In any event, such an amount would be hugely unrealistic considering it would be more than the entire budget to make a Pirates movie.
Depp last played Jack Sparrow in 2017 for Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge, and has become the face of the blockbuster franchise.
Reportedly, two more Pirates movies are in the pipeline and the 59-year-old actor is attached to neither of them.
The first one is actually the sixth installment, even though it is also in limbo and there is little information on the movie's direction without Depp as Jack Sparrow.
Back in 2020, it was announced by The Hollywood Reporter that a spin-off with Margot Robbie is also in the works but not many details have been revealed so far.
Both movies seem to be stuck in stasis and it seems as though neither of them will star Depp, who appears to be quite clear that he doesn't plan on making a comeback as Captain Jack.
Apart from this, an online petition asking for Depp to return to the Pirates of the Caribbean movies has also been set up which has reached a dramatic 875,000 signatures, but that's unlikely to persuade him to change his stance.
Even though there are major differences between Depp and Disney, but it seems like Disney plans on cashing the actor's character as an image of the actor's face was even projected onto Disneyland Paris after his trial verdict.
One role Depp will likely be returning to is that of a participant in the defamation trial between himself and ex-wife Heard.
Reportedly, lawyers from both sides have failed to reach a settlement after he was ordered to pay her $2 million in damages and she was ordered to pay him $10 million.
Heard's legal team has indicated she is likely to appeal the verdict, meaning we could see her and Depp back in the courtroom soon.
