Johnny Depp's ex-wife Lori Allison has opened up about the actor's defamation trial and how she still stands beside him firmly.

Lori Allison got married to Depp in 1983 and the duo got divorced only two years later.

But even after their separation they remained close and now she has shared her opinion on the defamation trial between Depp and Heard.

Last year, a jury announced Depp to be a winner against Heard's 2018 op-ed piece for The Washington Post where she said she was 'a victim of domestic abuse' were defamatory, awarding him $15 million in damages.

Even though Depp's name was not mentioned in the article but Depp stated that the article had ruined his life.

Meanwhile, a countersuit from Heard was also awarded $2 million in damages.

Speaking to Popcorned Planet, the 65-year-old said she'd met Heard before and followed the proceedings of the defamation trial.

She said:

"I had met her before, I'd been to parties at his house and she seemed really nice and she was gorgeous and what's not to love?

"But as the time went by and I would hear things about her - she who shall not be named - he didn't seem too happy all the time. I didn't see him a lot so I can't really say.

"The things that affected me more were the things he said in court - I probably broke down several times because I felt really bad for him.

"He's very private - which is why I don't do interviews - and I think for him to come out so wholeheartedly was what he really needed to do.

"I thought it was either going to be an epic train wreck or it was going to go really well."

Lori then said she'd 'done my share of s**tty things to people' but denounced Heard's actions as 'absolutely horrific' and claimed 'if there were things that I could do to her that were legal I would do them'.

Amber Heard filed an appeal against the final result of the defamation trial, however, in December this was also settled after claiming that it was 'not an act of concession' as a deal was agreed upon where she would pay $1 million.

She said it had been 'a very difficult decision' and wrote that it was 'important for me to say that I never chose this.'
