Throughout his divorce from Amber Heard and following the defamation trial, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor had the support of the brand.

For almost ten years, he has served as an ambassador for the fragrance, and he expresses his eternal gratitude for their continued support when his reputation was destroyed.

Speaking to GQ Middle East, he said: "I’ve been working with them for a while now. Of course, you develop a personal relationship with folks and keep close to them. They stuck with me through every single second, and that ups the stakes quite a lot for me: they trusted me, they believed in me, and they continued.”

"That gesture is so noble and so rare!”

"I’ve never been more touched or prouder to have had that support.”

"Nobody does that, and the fact that Dior has, I thank every single person involved in making the decision to trust me and stick with me all the way from the bottom to the top and back down. I will forever be in their debt; I will forever be loyal."

For him, Dior will always represent more than "just Sauvage," he claims.

"An eagle cries as it circles its prey. The blazing sun high in the ozone blue sky," he says in the advert.

"A trail of cold wind stirs a land of dry wood and stone.”

"This is the call of Sauvage."

Depp allegedly signed a very expensive contract with Dior after the well-known defamation trial involving Amber Heard.

According to Variety, Depp was expected to make more than $20 million over the course of the relationship.

The Wall Street Journal said that Depp and Dior collaborated in 2015 and that the Sauvage perfume was the top-selling men's scent in stores like Sephora and Ulta.

Additionally, a May 2016 survey found that a bottle of Sauvage is sold every three seconds.

Twitter user John Pompliano posted the assertion and cited a January 2022 Marie Claire article where the astounding statistic was mentioned.

He tweeted: "Despite most labels dropping Johnny Depp, @Dior decided to stick with him.”

"Why?”

"They sell a bottle of his fragrance 'Sauvage' every 3 seconds. At $160 a bottle, that's over $4.5 million a day in sales."
