Jurors have reached the final verdict in the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard case and it is decided on who won the infamous defamation trial that had people glued to their seats for the past six weeks.
Jurors Have Reached The Final Verdict In Johnny Depp And Amber Heard Case
Jurors in the A-List Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation case has reached the final verdict, AP News reports.
The jurors have decided on the final verdict in which Depp was suing his ex-wife for $50 million and his ex-wife was countersuing him for $100 million.
The verdicts are set to be read out in the Fairfax Country, Virginia, courthouse at 3:00 PM local time on Wednesday. The civil jury, which consisted of seven people, came to a unanimous decision to reach each verdict. They had deliberated for around 12 hours over three days.
The juror's team is made of five men and two women. They started deliberating on Friday and were asked to give the decision on whether Heard defamed Depp or Depp did domestic violence against his ex-wife during their relationship together.
Depp is suing Heard for a 2018 op-ed in which Heard presented herself as a domestic violence victim, while Depp claimed in the court that the allegations are false and has cost him his career and his personal life.
Throughout the trial, which started in April, attorneys for Depp argued that Heard's op-ed implied he was physically abusive towards his former wife - despite the fact that he was not named in it. His legal team also alleged that Heard's accusations cost him his reputation and his illustrious Hollywood career.
Depp is seeking $50 million in damages. Heard, on the other hand, is seeking $100 million.
One turning point the trial saw was the Kate Moss's testimony in which she confirmed in front of the court that she was not pushed by Depp down the stairs during their relationship, in fact, according to Ms. Moss, she slipped down the stairs and it was Depp who arranged medical attention for her.
The 48-year-old supermodel testified via video link at her ex-boyfriend's high-profile defamation trial against Heard.
Depp, 58, and Heard, 36, have entered the final week of their defamation trial, in which the former is suing the latter for claiming to be a victim of "sexual violence". He wasn't named in the op-ed but Depp's legal team claimed that it was obvious that Depp was targetted in it.
Depp is suing Heard for $50 million, meanwhile Heard is countersuing for twice the amount.
On Wednesday, Moss testified as a rebuttal witness and told the court that she had never been assaulted by Depp at any point in their relationship.
Her brief testimony saw her being questioned by Depp's attorney, Ben Chew, about their four-year romance.
Talking about the rumors, the model cleared the air and confirmed that she was in no way harmed by Depp.
"We were leaving the room and Johnny left the room before I did, and there had been a rainstorm," she told the court from Gloucestershire, England. "As I left the room, I slid down the stairs and I hurt my back."
"I screamed because I didn’t know what had happened to me and I was in pain. He came running back to help me, and carried me to my room, and got me medical attention."
Chew then asked again whether his client, Depp, had ever "pushed her down the stairs" at any point in their relationship.
