We all know that dogs are considered to be man's best friend. That is especially true for K-9 officers and their dogs. They are not only their best friend, but they are also their partners. The K-9 has his back in all situations whether it be running down a suspect or sniffing out drugs. In some extreme cases, they are the ones who save their human partner's life in deadly situations.
K-9 Dog Saves His Cop After He Is Viciously Attacked
#1
Deputy Todd Frazier survived a vicious attack because of the help of his K-9 partner, Lucas, who is a Belgian Malinois. He was driving on a deserted road when he came upon a parked car near a rest stop in Pearlington, Mississippi. He thought that the person in the car probably needed help, so he pulled over to offer his assistance. The man was sitting in his parked car with the lights turned off, so Frazier was cautious as he approached the vehicle.

As Frazier approached the parked vehicle, he heard a rustling in the nearby woods. Frazier started to step away from the car when two men ran out of the woods. As the deputy was backing away from the vehicle, he tripped and fell to the ground. At this point, the male who was in the car and the two men from the woods ambushed him. They cut him across the forehead and dragged him into the woods.

These thugs told Frazier that they were going to slit his throat. Investigators believe that the men had planned to kill Frazier and dump his body. However, as the men dragged him into the woods, Frazier got a hand free and clicked the button that opens the doors to his K-9 unit and released his K-9.

Lucas bolted straight towards the attackers. He was able to injure one while sending the others running for their lives. Sheriff Ricky Adam said, "We don't know how many he got; we just know he had blood all over him." The K-9 release mechanism that Frazier triggered was a recent install that only two of the four K-9 units have installed. Frazier was very lucky!

"It hits us hard, it brings you to your knees," Cheif Deputy Bass said. "We're not a large agency, and all these guys have families. The main thing for anybody is to go home safe. We want you to go home at night. But it could happen to any one of them. The threat is here and the possibility is real."
