Saving up to buy a house at any age is a pretty big achievement but when you’re able to do it at the age of 20, you should be given a medal.

When OP finally got the keys to her new place, she was over the moon and immediately started working on her fixer-upper to make it her own.

She said that she was able to snag the house for a mere 15k and was quite happy with it.

The previous owner was an elderly man and wasn't able to upgrade the house much until OP moved in.

OP soon encountered a strange neighbor who would throw comments her way when she was working around the property.

Jane who seemed to be in her 50s came over and introduced herself and said that OP was being kind in helping the old man that owned the place. She also told OP not to have parties in the neighborhood.

OP clarified that she didn't intend to throw parties but was going to host some small gatherings such as a housewarming. When questioned, OP clarified that she did indeed own the house.

She didn't encounter the Karen again until she decided to paint the front door of her house. This was when the nosy neighbor stormed towards her screaming that she couldn't modify someone else's property and that she was lying about owning the house. She also said she'd be contacting the landlord.

OP told her to mind her own business and to get off her property. her neighbour then called the police claiming that OP was a squatter.

OP simply showed the police her papers when they showed up and left the neighbor fuming.

When OP brought the situation up to her father, she was shocked to see that he didn't fully take her side. He said that OP should have made an effort to be friends with her neighbors and that she could have shown the papers to the Karen before the police arrived to put her suspicions to rest.

This made OP second guess herself and she took to Reddit for confirmation. Commenters told her she had nothing to worry about and that she did nothing wrong.

Reddit

They said that the Karen may not have believed the papers either from how she sounded.

Reddit

They also added that no one had the right to view private documents and that OP did not owe her that clarity.

Some urged her to put up security cameras as facts as possible since her neighbour sounded like the sort of person to escalate things.

Some commenters even asked the most important question. We would also like to move there.
