Beckinsale shared a series of comments that were later deleted on a promo video for Ruffalo’s latest project
Kate Beckinsale has publicly called out Mark Ruffalo, claiming that he ignored her during a difficult time when she says she was dropped by her agent after liking a post on Instagram.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the comments were later removed. They were originally posted under a video where Ruffalo was speaking about his new film, Palestine 36.
In the comments section of that clip, Beckinsale wrote: "It must be so nice not to be fired by your agent for liking a post about a ceasefire and not supporting the murdering of children."
The situation quickly gained attention online, with many people trying to understand what had happened behind the scenes. The fact that the comments were deleted only added more curiosity, as people wondered why they were removed so soon after being posted.
Some users also pointed out that the situation seemed to highlight larger conversations about how people are treated differently within the industry. Others focused on the personal side of Beckinsale’s message and the frustration she appeared to express.
She went on to explain her situation further, adding: "I guess having a penis in Hollywood really counts for a lot because you've not been fired by the same agent that I had, and she sent me a gift the week before, so we didn't have any beef, but I liked a post about a ceasefire and I've got fired on the same day as Susan Sarandon was fired, two days after the end of the strike after nine months of none of us being able to work at all."
Beckinsale also shared more about what she was going through at the time, explaining that her personal life had been extremely difficult, especially with serious health issues affecting her family.
"I was dealing with the fact that on top of my mother having been told she had six weeks to live with brain cancer, and being [a] carer for both of them, the day before my stepfather had had a catastrophic stroke on top of two types of cancer," she added.
"Which led to his death and I was preparing to fly to England to bring him back so that I could take full care of him and I was fired in two sentences after 12 years of friendship with my Agent and yours who is very close to her elderly parents and definitely knew what I was dealing with, alone."
She also made it clear that she did not receive any response back and did not expect one going forward, explaining her thoughts on the situation in more detail: "It is such a given that of course I did not get a response and I really and truly support Mark Ruffalo and everything he is doing but no I@will [sic] not get a response not here and not ever."
"I sent a message to Mark months ago and he ignored it. There is absolutely no reason why he would respond to it now."
Even with everything she said, Beckinsale clarified that she is not directly blaming Ruffalo for what happened, but was instead pointing out what she sees as a wider issue.
The comments have since sparked wider discussion about how actors are treated for expressing personal or political views online. Some people believe there is inconsistency in how different individuals are handled in similar situations.
Others have focused on the emotional weight behind Beckinsale’s message, especially given the personal challenges she described at the time. The situation continues to raise questions about fairness, communication, and support within the entertainment industry.
