Kylie Jenner lost many followers on social media after allegedly mocking Selena Gomez during a live stream with a friend. The incident sparked a backlash from fans of both celebrities.
Kylie Jenner Has Lost Hundreds Of Thousands Of Followers In The Midst Of Her 'Mocking' Selena Gomez
According to reports, Kylie Jenner's follower count has decreased by hundreds of thousands as a result of her controversial 'mocking' of actress Selena Gomez.
You might be wondering what prompted this.
Well, after Selena's brow lamination, Kylie was charged with disrespecting her.
She posted a story with a picture of her brows that read: "Was this an accident?"
Since then, the reality star has responded to the accusations by branding them as "reaching."
She added: "No shade towards Selena ever and I didn’t see her eyebrow posts! U guys are making something out of nothing. This is silly."
Fans weren't entirely convinced, though, and some users called her out, writing: "For those saying 'it was an accidental selfie posted' COME. ON... The billionaire marketer doesn’t accidentally post anything. Be for really real."
While another wrote: "A secure woman would NEVER put another woman down."
Kylie's Instagram following started to decline on Wednesday (22 February), losing a whopping 124,711 followers, according to statistics from Social Blade.
The beauty mogul then appears to have lost an additional 88,000 fans in the days that followed.
Her overall fan loss as of this writing is over 212,000.
Since the drama began on Wednesday 22 February, Gomez's account has allegedly gained an additional 2.3 million fans, surpassing the mother of two in terms of followers.
The 30-year-old Disney star shared on a TikTok live stream that she would be "taking a second from social media because this is a little silly" in order to take a break from social media.
Adding: "I'm 30 and too old for this. But I love you so much and I'll see you guys sooner than later.”
"I'm just gonna take a break from everything."
She told the outlet: "People can call me ugly or stupid and I’m like, Whatever. But these people get detailed.”
"They write paragraphs that are so specific and mean. I would constantly be crying. I constantly had anxiety. I couldn’t do it anymore. It was a waste of my time."
Gomez added that she only has TikTok on her phone out of all the social media platforms because she considers it to be "a little less hostile."
Regarding her other social media platforms, she clarified: "Everything I do I send to my assistant who posts them. As far as comments, my team will put together a few things that are encouraging."
