A Lifeguard at Bondi Beach in Australia makes a heroic rescue, and it's all caught on tape.
#1 Little Girl Drowning
On a hot summer day on the crowded Bondi Beach in Australia, a small young girl headed straight into the raging current. The girl was frantically waving her arms and screaming out for help, just moments from going under.
#2 Rough Waters
That's when lifeguard Terry spotted the girl drifting quickly into the currents. It was a sight he was all too familiar with, as he had saved a young boy recently in the same situation who later passed away from complications. But saving children is his passion.
#3 Sprung Into Action
Doing his job above and beyond the call of duty, he sprang into action, jumped on his paddle board and hurriedly paddled as fast as he could to reach her before she was pulled under the strengthening waters and washed away.
#4 The Rescue
Knowing that every second counts in this situation, he fought the rough waves to get to the little girl. Finally, he makes contact with the girl before she went under. The entire scene took less than 60 seconds. Terry grabs the girl by the chest and pulls her to his board and safety.
#5 Nearly Drowned
He was able to pull the little girl onto his board and make sure she was breathing. She was on the verge of passing out and had water in her mouth as Terry urges her to "hang in there," and "stay with me."
#6 Safe On Shore
With a warning to the panicked mother to stay within the yellow flags, Terry returns the little girl to shore. The rescue teams saves hundreds of children each year on this beach. Every time they save a child from drowning it's a big deal.
#7 Emotional Memories
Rescuing little ones brings back a lot of bad memories for Terry, who lost his son during childbirth when the boy became trapped in the birth canal for 10 minutes and died. Whenever he does a rescue the same feeling comes to the surface for him. He has devoted his life to saving children.
Terry was being filmed for a reality show called Bondi Rescue wich airs on the TEN in Australia when the incident was captured as it happened.
