Photographer Rose-Lynn Fisher was in a time of change , loss and copious tears , and like most great artist , their best work comes out in extreme situations . She suddenly began to think ” I wonder if my grief tears look different from my happy tears ” and with that the project was born . She studied more than 100 different tears and found that basal tears ( which are the ones our body produce to lubricate our eyes ) are very different from the tears of chopping an onion . The tears that come out from laughter are way different from tears of sorrow . Every tiny tear drop carries a microcosm of human experience . The project is called The Topography of Tears
