#1 When Your Luck Is In, It's In

If you've ever been in the unfortunate position of losing your wallet, you've probably held out hope for a few days that it might be returned by a Good Samaritan.

After 14 years, however, chances are you'd have long given up hope of ever seeing it again.

#2 He Lost His Wallet On The Way Home

Croatian man Ivica Jerkovic had certainly long forgotten about a wallet he lost on his way home from a party way back in 2002, despite the fact that the wallet happened to be filled with approximately euro1,000 at the time.

A thousand notes in the wallet? Ivica's obviously not the type of guy who withdraws euro20 every time he visits the ATM. And, he had saved for years to get the money collected, which he had just taken from the bank that afternoon. The money he lost at the time was intended to fix the leaking roof of his house.

#3 Special Delivery

Jerkovic couldn't believe his luck recently when the wallet was sent to him anonymously in the mail and not only was the euro1,000 all there, there was approximately euro500 extra in there for good measure. To top it off, it was sent to his neighbor by mistake, because Jerkovic had moved down the street since he lost his wallet and money.

#4 The Person Who Found The Wallet Paid Him Back With Interest

Jerkovic, who is in his 50s', believes that whoever found the money was down on his luck at the time and that because the cash helped dig him out of a hole, that he felt he owed some interest.

"I believe that this money saved him and for years he was calculating how much he should return to me," Jerkovic said.

"Otherwise, I don't know why he would keep the wallet for all those years!"

#5 The Best Present Ever Received

"First I thought that someone was joking with me so I went to check whether the money was real," Jerkovic added. He said he was devastated at the time of the loss and it took him four years to save enough money to repair his roof.

But now over a decade later, he claims it is the best present he has ever received.
