A British woman was left incredibly disappointed after initially being told she had won the grand prize in a competition she entered, only to discover she wouldn’t actually receive the promised reward.

35-year-old Loretta Buchanan, who recently tied the knot, had been overjoyed at the idea of moving into a multimillion-dollar mansion with her new husband, but instead, she walked away with a significantly smaller cash prize.

Loretta, a schoolteacher from Radford, Nottingham, has publicly criticized the company behind the raffle, Win My Home, which had advertised the $3.3 million mansion as the main prize.

When representatives from the competition visited her home to inform her of her win, she was only awarded $6,300 due to a loophole in the contest rules. Naturally, this left Loretta feeling upset and misled.

Speaking to the Mail Online, she shared her frustrations and called into question the legitimacy of the entire event.

She expressed her feelings: "I was promised a new home, but I got the booby prize. I won the property fair and square, but I've been badly let down. I am devastated."

"It feels to me that this contest is a scam. I wonder if I was ever going to win that house?"

"This was going to be the new and exciting start to our married future, but it has taken it away from us."

The company, Win My Home, had even uploaded a video of Loretta being congratulated on their website. However, the video has since been removed, further fueling her concerns.

The video’s caption read: "Congratulations to our Winner, Loretta from Nottingham!"

"Newly married of 2.5 months, she and her husband have been looking to buy their first home together!"

"We're so happy for you both and wish you all the best for your next chapter."

The short clip, which runs for less than a minute, shows a woman arriving at Loretta’s doorstep with a bouquet of flowers and enthusiastically announcing: "You're the winner of our Nottingham prize draw."

The situation became even more frustrating for Loretta when she was led to believe she had truly won the grand prize.

Reflecting on that moment, she said: "Two people came and they said 'yes you've won' and I was like 'yes, where are my keys?'"

"And they told me I hadn't won the house but I had won a grand prize of £5,000. I was like 'right, thanks' and they said 'unfortunately because we didn't raise enough money I can't give you the house'."

Rather than handing over the keys to the luxurious home, the company offered Loretta a much smaller payout, which they said could be transferred directly into her bank account.

Understandably, Loretta was left questioning the fairness of the entire process.
