One of the men responsible for supplying fentanyl-laced pills to Mac Miller that were responsible for the rapper's untimely death has been given a sentence of 11 years in prison.

According to Sky News, 38-year-old Ryan Reavis is one of the three men charged with the death of Mac Miller - real name Malcolm James McCormick.

In September 2018, Miller was found unresponsive at his home in the Studio City section of Los Angeles.

According to The Independent, the rapper had a history of substance abuse and had only broken up with his ex-girlfriend, pop star Ariana Grande, a few weeks prior following a two-year relationship.

As per Rolling Stone, Reavis pleaded guilty to his crime back in November, after co-defendant Stephen Andrew Walter, 48, says he "knowingly directed" Reavis to sell counterfeit oxycodone pills that contained fentanyl. Reavis would then sell these pills to Miller’s drug dealer, Cameron James Pettit, 30.

Fentanyl is an opioid that is considered 50 times stronger than heroin.

A statement from the United States Attorney’s Office back in November read: "Shortly after Reavis distributed the fentanyl-laced pills to Pettit, Pettit distributed the pills to 26-year-old rapper Malcolm James McCormick - who recorded and performed under the name Mac Miller - approximately two days before McCormick suffered a fatal drug overdose in Studio City on Sept. 7, 2018."

Reavis' attorney had requested a five-year sentence, describing his client as a "runner" only. However, prosecutors asked for 12 and a half years.

Before Reavis was given his final sentence, Miller's grieving mother, Karen Meyers, shared with the court: "My life went dark the moment Malcolm left his world. Malcolm was my person, more than a son. We had a bond and kinship that was deep and special and irreplaceable. We spoke nearly every day about everything – his life, plans, music, dreams."

Court gave Reavis 131 months which would be 10 years and 11 months sentence in prison. According to Sky News, he will also be on supervised release for three years.

Meanwhile, the case against Pettit is still in progress. Apart from this, Walter also pleaded guilty back in October after signing a plea agreement in which he agreed to plead guilty to one count of distribution of fentanyl, per the US Attorney's Office.

Walter's plea agreement read: "Defendant knew that the pills that he directed Reavis to give to Pettit contained fentanyl or some other federally controlled substance."
