Macaulay Culkin Changed His Name Legally, And Now It's Totally Unusual

We all remember Macaulay Culkin, right? The actor who seems to have stayed the same since his iconic role as Kevin McCallister in Home Alone?

Well, back in 2018, this actor, who has one of the most recognizable names out there, decided to make a trip to the courthouse to legally change the name on his birth certificate.

Throughout his career, Culkin has taken on different names in movies like Richie Rich, Robot Chicken, and American Horror Story.

But Culkin hasn’t limited his name changes to just acting roles. In 2018, he opened up a conversation on his site, Bunny Ears, to talk about how there was a part of his name he really wasn't fond of.

He said his middle name was 'so dumb' that he couldn’t even recall it. That’s how insignificant it was to him.

The actor commented: "Larry? Orange? Honestly, I can't even remember it."

Since his middle name was apparently forgotten, Culkin asked fans to send in their ideas for a new one.

"I asked you all to send in some better options so I can go down to the court house and explain to a judge why I need to change my middle name to something cool," he shared.

Of course, the internet went wild at the chance to help one of the most iconic child stars in the country choose a new middle name.

The suggestions poured in, and Culkin picked his top five favorites. The choices were:

- TheMcRibIsBack
- Kieran
- Shark Week
- Publicity Stunt
- Macaulay Culkin.

All of them were pretty great options, especially Kieran, which, funnily enough, is the name of Culkin’s brother.

Culkin set up a vote that would end on Christmas Eve, joking: "Sure, I might have gold-plated watercraft, and chrome plated invisibility cloaks, but all I want for Christmas is a new middle name."

And his holiday wish was granted.

On Christmas Day, he announced on Twitter that his legal name was now Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin.

It’s definitely a lot to say, but he shared: "It has a nice ring to it (if you like my name)."

Even though it sounds unbelievable, Culkin’s Wikipedia page now lists him as 'Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin'.

Fans still talk about the actor’s hilarious move, with one person tweeting: "We're watching Home Alone 2 and I just remembered that Macaulay Culkin changed his name to Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin. Magic."
