Madonna Calls Out Fan For Sitting Down During Her Concert, Then Realizes The Person Is In A Wheelchair

A moment that has been widely circulated online shows her experiencing a mishap that left her a bit embarrassed.

In the now-viral video, Madonna is seen interacting with her audience, encouraging everyone to "take this ride with me." 

It was then she noticed someone not standing and inquired, "What are you doing sitting down over there?"

She approached the stage's edge to better hear the fan's reply.

Upon discovering the individual was using a wheelchair, Madonna, clearly taken aback by her oversight, quickly apologized: 

"Oh, okay. Politically incorrect. Sorry about that." 

She then warmly expressed, "I'm glad you're here," trying to smooth over the awkward moment.

This incident has drawn criticism from some, who argue that Madonna's remark was out of line, regardless of the fan's circumstances.

A user on Reddit pointed out, "Even if that person wasn't in a wheelchair, maybe just having bad knees or whatever, how tf is that anybody's business?"

Another person expressed their displeasure, emphasizing the respect owed to paying fans: "Girl, bye. People are paying good money to see you, don't disrespect them like that."

Sharing a personal anecdote, someone else highlighted the importance of recognizing invisible disabilities: 

"I went to a concert a couple of months after going through surgery and chemo and couldn't stand the whole time."

"I would've been mortified to be called out like this. Disability is not always evident. It shouldn't matter if they were in a wheelchair or not."

Madonna has been described as 'insufferable' by some and the video itself as 'painful' by others due to this incident.

This was not the sole mishap on her current tour; Madonna had a fall during one of her songs last month.

While performing 'Open Your Heart', she was accidentally pulled from her chair by a dancer who tripped, resulting in her tumbling to the stage.

However, Madonna's reaction to the fall was praised as 'perfect'; she laughed it off and continued her performance without missing a beat.

A videographer on stage immediately checked on her, and fortunately, she appeared uninjured.

Many still recall the infamous 2015 Brit Awards incident where Madonna was accidentally pulled down a flight of stairs by her cape.

Reflecting on the incident, she explained the cape was tied too tightly due to concerns it might fall off. 

"So here I am marching in like the Queen, I got to the top of the stairs and I pulled the silky string and it wouldn't come undone."

"My two lovely Japanese dancers, they basically strangled me off the stage. I could either be strangled or fall, and I chose to fall."
