Reddit user found himself in a bit of a pickle when an old flame decided to re-enter his life but only after he had decided to marry his new girlfriend.

He originally met his female friend in University where he fell for her and tried to be there for her in whatever way he could.

He noted that she didn't form any real bonds with anyone at university and "wasn't the easiest person to deal with".

For user u/Specialist_Animal689 however, this wasn't a problem as he started "developing feelings for her."

He tried his luck on a few occasions but to no avail as she wasn't interested.

"When I left Uni, we kept in touch and she invited me over to visit and stay a couple of days with her family. I booked my flight and visited her and I still liked her so I confessed again and got rejected again. This time she cut me off for over a year."

After being ghosted for over a year, the two finally reconnected but OP was now in a relationship.

Upon hearing this, his friend said she was happy for him but suddenly started flirting with him and "saying that she misses me and regrets that nothing happened between us."

OP was surprised by the sudden change of heart as she said she wanted to give the two of them a chance.

"I like her as a friend but I am afraid this friendship might take a toll on my relationship."

For Redditors, the writing on the wall was clear as day.

"Time for you to cut her off this time. She only wants you now because this time she can't have you."

Another added, "The only reason to stay in contact with this person is to ruin your current relationship. You need to block your ‘old friend’. She just doesn’t want to see you happy with someone else."

It was obvious that OP was always her back up plan. "You were a backup plan. Now you are taking that away. Ghost her."
