Man Slapped After Proposing With Gummy Ring At MLB Baseball Game

Look at this baseball fan for instance. 

Even if you kneel down and propose at a big baseball game with your partner, things might not go as planned.

In a video that quickly became popular, a fan is shown stopping his girlfriend while she walks down the stairs to her seat in the stadium.

The man then guides his bewildered girlfriend closer to him, gives her a kiss, and expresses his love for her before he starts to kneel down.

This leaves the young woman astonished, with her hand covering her mouth, as she anticipates what is about to occur.

This action immediately captures the attention of spectators seated in the nearby grandstand of the Rogers Centre.

People start taking out their phones to record what unfolds next.

Expecting the proposal to go off without a hitch, the game's official camera crew also began recording the incident to display on the large screens.

Taking a knee on the stairs, the man takes out a black box from his left jeans pocket. To the astonishment of both the woman and the crowd, he opens the box to reveal a Ring Pop.

As soon as she sees the red lollipop ring, the young woman promptly slaps her partner, causing dismayed reactions from Blue Jays fans in the form of shocked screams.

“What the f–k is wrong with you,” she says while throwing her drink at the man.

Although the truth behind whether the proposal was sincere or a prank remains undisclosed, online users swiftly highlighted a significant aspect of the video.

There is a belief that the man planned to follow up the initial playful surprise of the Ring Pop with a genuine ring proposal.

This assumption arises from the presence of another, smaller box visible in his left pocket.

The video of the proposal made some people on social media disagree. On Reddit, especially, users were unsure about whether to support the guy or blame him for the proposal that didn't work out.

“The guy pulled a jerk move. If he cannot be serious for something important imagine what type of clown he is day to day,” said one user.

Many people believe that the man was in the wrong for humiliating his girlfriend. After all, who stages a joke proposal at a crowded baseball game?

“Humiliate the one you love in front of thousands?” one commenter asked. 

“Should have been a real diamond. Run girl! I would have done the same. It’s called self-worth.”

However, others believe the woman is too high-maintenance, arguing, “That’s an indication of how the rest of his life would go marrying her… move on dude.”
