A kind young couple knocked on a man's home and gave him back the £180 he had lost on the outside floor, leaving him shocked.

On November 26, Paul Lyon took out the cash when he was out shopping close to his house on Knowsley Road in St Helens, Merseyside.

Paul adds that after getting back home, he was inside for less than a minute when he heard someone knocking and discovered a young couple outside.

The two, now identified as Jarrod and Charlie, had seen Paul lose his money and had kindly given it back.

Paul said: "I'd gone the shop to get some stuff to make breakfast and decided to get some money out. As I got home, within 30 seconds I heard the doorbell so answered it and there was a young couple standing there.”

"They asked me if I'd dropped any money and I didn't know at the time but when I checked, I was missing the money. I thanked them and tried to give them some as a thank you but they wouldn't accept anything.”

"I checked the video doorbell back to see where I'd dropped the money, and the video before showed the couple walking down the road just behind me and they followed me behind to tell me I'd dropped the money. They quite easily could have walked off with the money and I would never have realized.”

"I put a post on Facebook and it got a lot of attention. Some family members have messaged me to say they are so proud and they are only 17. I wasn't expecting it.”

"I could tell by their personalities that they would've been gutted had that happened to them, both as honest as each other."

According to Helen Pye, the good samaritans were her son Jarrod and his companion Charlie. She remarked that both of their families were "so proud."

Helen said: "We’re all so proud of them both - even before this they are two of the loveliest and hardworking people you could ever meet.”

Charlie's mum, Sarah, added: "We think she's an amazing girl and we're extremely proud of their actions."

Paul posted a video of the exchange on Facebook, noting: "These two honest people came knocking on my door this morning after realizing I dropped £180 on the floor.”

"They could have easily walked away with it. I offered a cash reward but they refused to take it even though I insisted, they still refused. I really hope they have a great Christmas."

Since then, the post has received a lot of attention, with people praising the young couple's honesty.

One person added: "I love hearing stories like this of young kids most kids these days get slated for all kinds of different things but this is proof that we haven’t totally lost a whole generation to today’s society. Still lots of young kind smart respectful kids around I applaud them well done hope you get a good deed paid back to you one day."

However, Jarrod and Charlie's honesty touched Paul Lyon and made a lasting impact on him.

Their story resonated with a wider audience, offering a much-needed dose of hope in a world often filled with negativity.
