A man pretended to kidnap his girlfriend, who was unaware of the plan, in what could be considered one of the most unusual and potentially reckless marriage proposals in recent memory, before eventually proposing to her.
Man Stages Kidnap For The Most Controversial Proposal Of All Time
The most controversial proposal in history may have been made by a man who staged a kidnapping and divided social media opinion.
While on vacation in Lebanon, Adam Rizk pulled an unexpected prank on his date. Who said romance was dead?
The Australian felt that now was the ideal time to ask Vanessa Moujalli to marry him and that he didn't want to propose in the traditional way, at a romantic dinner, on one knee.
The footage shows Moujalli being driven in a car before a gang of men carrying weapons stopped the car and removed Moujalli and her sister from their seats.
Moujalli is being shoved into another car while screaming in terror and is wearing a blindfold.
As this is happening, a male voice can be heard stating, "She is going to f**king lose it."
Later, Moujalli is taken out of the vehicle and led up a path to where music is playing.
The blindfold is taken off, and Moujalli is crying when she finds her boyfriend standing in front of her holding a bouquet of flowers.
Still in shock by the experience.
When Rizk eventually gets to the point, he kneels before his partner, who is in shock, and pops the question.
The proposal required three months of preparation, according to Rizk's sister:
"[Adam] always joked that he wanted to propose in a way to scare her and my family joined in and made it possible when she was visiting family in Lebanon.”
"They always play pranks on each other so it's just their relationship … the overall planning took three months."
It's not surprising that the proposal divided TikTok users given how severe it was.
Some find it funny and romantic and others criticize it as being risky and inappropriate.
The proposal's issue prompts debate regarding what constitutes a proper proposal and if it is permissible to stage extravagant actions without the person being proposed to's approval.
While some people could find this kind of proposal exciting and memorable, others can feel that it violates their trust and violates their personal space.
Following the fake hostage crisis proposal, Vanessa Rizk subsequently posted pictures of herself and her fiancé Adam kissing and gazing into the sunset on social media. She stated that her desire had come true in the caption.
She did not, however, bring up the divisive proposition that had sparked discussion on social media.
Vanessa had always wanted to be proposed to in Lebanon, where she had family ties, according to Tahlia, Adam's sister.
Vanessa seemed to be genuinely pleased with the result despite the unconventional and even traumatic nature of the proposal.
It's crucial to remember that, despite the idea of receiving a lot of negative feedback, the decision as to what works for the relationship ultimately rests with the parties involved.
Everybody expresses their love in a different way, so what one couple may find romantic, another may not.
In this instance, it appears that Vanessa and Adam are happy and enthusiastic about their future together despite the drama surrounding the proposal.
Given the extreme nature of the proposal, it's no surprise that it left TikTok users divided.
To each their own, I suppose.
