#1 Captured: Food Stamp Abuser
Nicholas Jackson, 36, of Stuart Florida, was arrested Friday in Palm City after he ran out of gas while driving the $60,000 BMW he allegedly stole earlier in the day from Brascar Auto Sales in Pompano Beach, FL.
#2 He Tried To Pay For A BMW With Food Stamps
Manager of the dealership, Evandro Pereira, said that Jackson had come into the showroom looking at cars several times. He went in last week and tried to purchase the $60,000 BMW with his EBT card, or Electronic Benefits Transfer food stamp card issued by the state.
#3 The Dealership Was Buglarized
When told that they don't accept food stamps, Jackson said that his card only had $37.00 on it anyway, and he stormed out of the dealership showroom and left without the vehicle. But on Thursday night, the Pompano Beach dealership call the Martin County Sheriff's Office and reported that it had been burglarized and that the BMW in question was missing.

Along with the automobile in question, the manager reported that 60 keys to various cars on the lot had also been taken from the security area as well. The manager gave the sheriff Jackson's name as a suspect and the paperwork he had filled out the previous morning with his contact information on it.
"I had an idea it was Jackson," Pereira told reporters. "The first thing that came to my mind was him."
#5 He Didn't Plan His Getaway Very Well
Police discovered Jackson sitting at an intersection in Pompano Beach in the stolen BMW with his door open and his legs outside of the vehicle. When they apprehended him he explained that he had no money and had run out of gas. They were able to trace the car back to the dealership after running a report and searching the car, where they also found the 60 stolen keys inside the glove compartment.
#6 Charged With Grand Theft Auto
Investigators said Jackson admitted during questioning that he entered the business through a window and stole the car and the keys but said he was sure he 'had enough money in food stamps to cover the cost.'
Jackson was charged with grand theft auto and jailed in lieu of $20,000 bond.
