A man who had a right to advise homeowners on how to avoid burglaries has been accused of burglary.

Sam Edwards, 28, launched "Sam's Burglary Prevention" in 2019 to provide advice to residents on how to prevent being targeted by burglars like his former self. Unfortunately, old habits die hard.

Edwards boasted that he had acquired a diverse variety of skills over the course of his 11-year criminal career and that he could open any door with a chisel more quietly than a homeowner could with a key.

He asserted that he had given up a life of crime in which he had stolen products worth $23 million.

But after admitting to 11 counts of burglary and one act of attempted burglary in April 2022, the father of one has now been put back in jail.

Edwards stole "high value" jewelry from Berkshire houses during a seven-month criminal spree that spanned September 2021 and March 2022.

Following a combined investigation between Surrey Police and Thames Valley Police, police said that Edwards also stole valuable objects with "high sentimental value." He was later arrested.

Following a hearing in April at Reading Crown Court, Edwards, who has no known address, was given a three-year, five-month prison term.

Detective Constable Steven Baggaley, the Thames Valley Police's investigating officer, stated: "Edwards has broken into 11 properties and attempted to break into a further one."

He added: "He stole not only items of high monetary value but also the high sentimental value which cannot be replaced.”

"A home is somewhere that you should feel safe and Edwards has breached this, making his victims feel vulnerable and unsafe.”

"This was a joint investigation between TVP and Surrey and officers will work relentlessly to pursue suspects and bring offenders to justice for these types of offenses and are committed to keeping our communities safe."

In September 2019, he established Sam's Burglary Prevention as his own company, offering his services to people wishing to increase the security of their homes.

Homeowners could get his best advice, which included double-bolting doors, hiding keyless entry cards in the microwave, and installing specialized alarm systems, for just $23 an hour.

He said at the time: "People can trust me because I've done this for a living, I know what I'm talking about.”

"I can give the vulnerable peace of mind.”

"So far I've only had four or five customers, two of them had been robbed already and one had some valuables that they would rather keep hold of."
