Loren Schauers suffered a terrible accident back in 2019 where his lower body was crushed to the point that it had to be amputated. The young man had little chance of survival but he bravely fought against all odds with his girlfriend by his side. Now Loren has opened up about his lifestyle to give some answers to his curious followers on YouTube.
Laborer Loren Schauers, 20, faced a tragic accident when he was cut in half in a freak forklift. The young man now explains to his followers on YouTube how he poops, pees and farts without genitalia or a bum.
Loren had a close escape from death back in 2019 when the forklift he was driving veered off a bridge and fell 50ft to the ground in Wilsall, Montana, US.
The builder who was a teenager at the time was conscious during the incident and explains that his whole body was squashed beneath the vehicle.
One of his arms was also squashed in the accident, and it was partially amputated.
It is during this crucial time that he decided to go for a hemicorperectomy - an operation to amputate the entire lower half of his body.
However, the whole procure was risky and the doctors feared that he won't survive it. Loren shares that he and his girlfriend, Sabia Reiche, said their goodbyes on more than one occasion, fearing that he was about to lose his life.
The duo was in a relationship for only 18 months when the tragedy struck them but now they say that this incident has only made them closer and they are even engaged now.
The loving couple also documents their journey on their YouTube channel where Loren shows that despite his disability he continues to live a happy and fulfilling life with his girlfriend.
Loren is living a life where he has no lower body and this has raised some questions for his followers who are curious about how he goes about his daily tasks in life.
Sabia explained in one video: "The biggest question that has been is how Loren goes to the bathroom."
The inspirational young man went on to explain himself: "A colostomy which is my colon pulled out of my body so I can poop.
"And I have bilateral nephrostomies, they're tubes that go into my kidneys that drain my kidneys into bags so therefore that is how I poop, pee and fart."
The couple then answered another common question: Does Loren have genitalia?
"We get questions like, 'does he have any private parts?'," Sabia said. "He's amputated below the waist. If that doesn't answer your questions, Google hemicorporectomy."
People have also asked the couple about their sex life - a question Sabia has slammed as 'disrespectful'.
"You wouldn't ask a random couple on the street how they have sex and just because our life circumstances are different, it doesn't give people the right to ask," she said.
The couple also once shared that at the time of Loren's hemicorporectomy doctors did attempt to save some of his sperm in the hope of allowing him to potentially have children, but it sadly wasn't viable.
