‘When it comes to Harry Potter, I’m a massive, massive nerd’
Margot Robbie, a huge Harry Potter enthusiast, had no clue her husband had a cameo in the franchise.
This revelation came despite the fact that the 33-year-old actor tied the knot with film producer Tom Ackerley in 2016, after they hit it off on the set of Suite Française in 2013.
Even after marrying in 2016, Robbie was blissfully unaware of the magical twist her love story was about to take.
She humorously mentioned that she would've hurried to the altar sooner had she known about his stint in Harry Potter.
Robbie, once self-proclaimed as the 'ultimate single gal', hadn't anticipated the enchanting journey her relationship with Ackerley would take.
She opened up to Vogue in 2016, saying, "The idea of relationships made me want to vomit. And then this crept up on me."
"We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, Oh, he would never love me back."
"Don't make it weird, Margot. Don't be stupid and tell him that you like him. And then it happened, and I was like, 'Of course we're together.'"
"This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before."
The couple's bond seemed even more perfect post-marriage.
During an appearance on the Graham Norton Show in 2020, Robbie said, "When it comes to Harry Potter, I’m a massive, massive nerd."
The audience was shown a photo of a 12-year-old Margot donning Harry Potter glasses and clutching one of the novels, illustrating her longtime fandom.
Robbie even confessed to faking poor eyesight as a kid, hoping to snag a pair of glasses akin to the Boy Who Lived's.
However, it was only after marrying Ackerley that she discovered he had been an extra in the films, playing a Slytherin student in the first three movies.
When recalling how Ackerley broke the news of his Harry Potter appearance, Robbie quipped, "I was like, ‘Had you told me sooner we would’ve been married very quickly!’"
"He was an extra when he was a little kid – he was one of the Slytherin extras when Draco pushes some kids out of the way to see Buckbeak in the third book."
"He pushes my husband out of the way."
The Harry Potter series has sparked some controversy lately, especially after film star Miriam Margolyes expressed that adult fans should move on from the series.
She didn't hold back in a follow-up interview, bluntly stating, "If your balls have dropped, then it’s time to forget about it!"
