A model who was discovered on the side of a road in Dubai with severe injuries has since begun rebuilding her life after a long recovery.
Maria Kovalchuk had traveled to the Middle East to create content for her OnlyFans page.
During the trip, she missed her scheduled flight to Thailand after oversleeping.
That unexpected delay led to her staying one additional night in Dubai.
During that extra evening, she met a group of young businessmen who reportedly invited her to attend a party.
According to Kovalchuk, the situation later turned violent and she was allegedly assaulted.
The 21-year-old Ukrainian model was later discovered on the roadside in extremely serious condition.
Reports stated that her hair had been cut off with a knife and that she had suffered injuries to her scalp.
Medical examinations also revealed that her spine had been broken and one of her legs had been severely injured.
At the time, some reports suggested that she may have attended what is known online as a “Porta Potty” party.
These events are rumored to involve wealthy individuals inviting young women, often models or influencers, to private gatherings.
The invitations are sometimes presented as opportunities for networking, photo shoots, or social media content.
According to allegations surrounding these events, women are sometimes offered large sums of money simply to attend.
In some cases, they are told they may be asked to appear in photos or online content.
However, critics say that situations can allegedly become dangerous once attendees arrive.
Kovalchuk later said she suffered a blow to the head while attempting to escape.
She claimed her belongings had been taken, forcing her to hide at a nearby construction site while trying to get away.
She was eventually found on the roadside with severe injuries.
During that time her family believed she had gone missing and feared she might have been trafficked.
Meanwhile, she was lying in a hospital bed in an induced coma as doctors worked to stabilize her condition.
The injuries left her temporarily reliant on a wheelchair because of the damage to her spine.
Despite those challenges, she has recently shared new photographs from a modeling shoot with her followers.
Her recovery involved ten major surgeries as well as long-term rehabilitation and medical treatment.
Kovalchuk later posted an update for her followers describing how her outlook on life changed during recovery.
"At first, I felt literally shattered, like a broken doll, and I could not imagine my future life at all," she wrote.
"I kept wondering how I would live with all these injuries, with his scar, disfigured… how I would somehow go on with my life."
"But over time, my perception of the world began to change."
"I started paying attention to my inner self and realised that what matters most is your inner state – what you learn and what you feel."
"Of course, there were difficulties with this, too."
She explained that the recovery process forced her to reflect deeply on her priorities and her sense of self.
"But I managed thanks to the support of my loved ones and my friends."
In a previous message shared with supporters, she said she felt as though she was “rising from the ashes” while learning to live again and rebuild her confidence.
She has since traveled to Paris to study makeup artistry.
While there, she attended training classes with well-known beauty brands such as Chanel and Bobbi Brown.
No one has been formally held responsible in connection with the alleged attack.
Kovalchuk has said that surveillance footage that might have helped investigators was no longer available.
She claims that the CCTV recordings that could have captured the incident were erased after three months.
She told The Sun: "The police waited until the cameras were automatically wiped… So now there's no evidence."
