Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's oldest daughter shared her honest thoughts about having 10 younger siblings
Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey’s daughter Monroe used social media to share how she feels about her many siblings, giving followers a rare look into her perspective on her family dynamic.
While Cannon is known for his acting roles and years of hosting different TV shows, he is often talked about for his large growing family as well.
Over the past 14 years, he has become a father to 12 children with six mothers, including his ex-wife Mariah Carey, Brittany Bell, Alyssa Scott, Abby De La Rosa, Bre Tiesi, and LaNisha Cole.
The names of Cannon’s children are Monroe, Moroccan, Golden, Powerful, Zion, Zillion, Zen, Legendary Love, Onyx, Rise, Beautiful, and Halo.
Cannon has spoken many times about how he views fatherhood, saying he embraces having a big family even if it looks unusual from the outside.
During a conversation with Dr. Laura Berman a few years back, he shared his thoughts, saying: "You're going to be a father of many. You're a great influence, your lineage, your offspring are going to do great things.'"
His oldest daughter, Monroe, who is 14 years old, recently posted on Instagram to clarify how she feels about having so many siblings.
In an Instagram story shared on November 13, she wrote: "Clearing something up guys."
"I only have ONE brother who is Moroccan Cannon. I do have other half siblings from my dad but they are all many, many years younger than me."
Monroe and her twin brother Moroccan are Cannon’s first children, whom he shares with Carey.
Her comments quickly sparked discussion online, with many people debating how close Cannon’s children are to one another and how different it can feel to be a half sibling versus a full one.
Cannon has often praised Monroe for her maturity, telling PEOPLE that she is “wise beyond her years” and even joking that she is the one who has helped him through some of the hardest moments of his life.
Cannon continued: "She keeps me in check. She's so pure and honest. [...] She's my oldest child. Even though they're twins, she came out first and she lets everybody know it. She's helped me keep it strong."
Cannon has also said before that most of his children weren’t planned, and the size of his family today would have shocked him if someone had told him years ago.
He explained: "As much as I was open to every single child that I have, I can't say the majority of them were planned."
"If you would have told me in 2012 when I was still married and just diagnosed with Lupus that 10 years from now... that I would have 12 children, I would be like f**k out of here! There's no way in the world that I would ever plan that."
