The actor and his family moved from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in 2022
Mark Wahlberg has shared insights into how his family has adjusted since they traded the bustling city life of Los Angeles for the quieter surroundings of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Known for his prominent role in Hollywood, particularly for his performance in "Father Stu," Wahlberg made the decision in 2022 to leave the glitz and glamour of LA, located just southwest of the iconic Hollywood hills, for a new start in Nevada.
Now 52 years old, Wahlberg has opened up about the numerous benefits his family has experienced since leaving Los Angeles behind.
Married to model Rhea Durham, Wahlberg is a father to four children: Ella, aged 20; Michael, 17; Brendan, 15; and Grace, 14.
The family initially placed their lavish $55 million Beverly Hills mansion up for sale in April 2022.
They then moved to a luxurious residence within the resort community known as 'The Summit Club' in Summerlin, Clark County, before eventually settling into what they consider their long-term family home.
During a conversation with CBS' The Talk, Wahlberg expressed his aspirations of creating a 'Hollywood 2.0' right in Las Vegas, hoping to 'work from home'.
More importantly, he emphasized that the primary motivation for the move was to provide his children with "a better life," one where they could freely "follow and pursue their dreams."
"Whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer," Wahlberg elaborated, "This made a lot more sense for us."
Fast forward to nearly two years after the move, Wahlberg recently spoke with People, highlighting that their new location has proven to be "a place where my kids can thrive and do their thing and pursue their interests."
"Everybody's adapted nicely. The kids are all out at school, and everybody's happy," he noted, reflecting on the smooth transition his family has made.
His comments echo sentiments he shared in November of the previous year.
Speaking to Today, Wahlberg confessed he missed California and "the weather," but he praised the Nevada community for being "wonderful" and "really faith-based," with "great schools" as well.
This aspect of faith is significant to Wahlberg, who is openly Christian.
He was even featured in a Super Bowl advertisement promoting a Catholic meditation app called Hallow, and during an appearance on Fox and Friends, he discussed his Christian faith openly.
Looking back on the decision to move from LA to Las Vegas, Wahlberg shared with Fox News Digital:
"It just has the best of both worlds. I know a lot of people, when they think Las Vegas, they think the Strip."
"But just about 15, 20 minutes away, there's a whole lot of other amazing areas that are all about family and community."
This move has evidently opened a new chapter for Wahlberg and his family, embracing a life that balances their personal interests and community values outside the immediate shadow of Hollywood.
