McDonald’s Fans Stunned After Realizing What Sweet 'N' Sour Sauce Is Made From

There's a good probability that if you go to McDonald's, you have a go-to dish or favorite meal. But after learning what ingredients go into the Sweet 'n' Sour sauce, some huge fans of the fast-food chain had their favorite order destroyed.

You probably don't even know the ingredients of the meals you eat on a regular basis these days because we are no longer living in a world of lone hunters and gatherers.

Fans of McDonald's were especially taken aback to learn that a specific fruit is used in their Sweet 'n' Sour sauce.

Resurfaced on TikTok, the video shows radio DJs in Melbourne, Australia, revealing the startling information to their listeners.

As her co-host was enjoying the ideal pairing of McNuggets and Sweet 'n' Sour sauce, co-host Lauren Phillips excitedly revealed the contents, ruining her co-host's day.

Lauren brought in the McDonald's order and prompted her co-host Jason Hawkins declare, "Today was a good day."

“Jason, you need to get into those nuggets and get into in particular your favorite sauce,” she said.

Jason started quickly finishing his order, coating his nuggets in the sauce. He was more than eager to eat.

“Would you believe, it is actually apricot flavor?” Lauren added.

Jason appeared to be heartbroken as he stopped in mid-step and threw out his mostly consumed nugget, claiming to 'hate apricots'. Now that he is conscious of the fruit in the sauce, he continued, saying he can even taste the apricot.

Following that, Lauren kept making jokes about how she had ruined his favorite order, and many TikTok fans shared her sentiments.

“You have ruined my favorite sauce,” one flustered user commented.

“I can now never have sweet and sour sauce again,” said another.

“Now that I've heard that it actually does taste like apricot. Big Mac sauce and nuggets is where it is at though,” another commented.

“My husband is the same, hates Apricot. Despises apricot chicken the most too. Haha, I can’t wait to tell him.”

Several people clarified that other sweet and sour sauces might not always contain this apricot component.

Shocked fans were addressed by the official McDonald's Australia TikTok account.

"Hear me out, try dipping your Soft Serve in Sweet and Sour Sauce," the account wrote.

Some people asked smugly how other McDonald's devotees could have been unaware of the substance.

'How do people not know this?' one asked.

'Sweet n Sour is essentially Apricot jam and white vinegar,' another claimed.

Additional ingredients in Sweet 'n Sour sauce include caramel color, cellulose gum, salt, xanthan gum, peach puree, dried chili powder, paprika extractives, and onion powder, among others.
