In response to criticism she received for asking supporters to contribute to a friend's GoFundMe, Megan Fox called out the "weirdos" and "psychos" online.

By posting a screenshot of the GoFundMe page to her 21 million followers, 37-year-old Megan promoted Brittney Boyce's fundraising campaign.

Boyce's fundraising website asked for $30,000 to cover her father's medical costs after he was told he had pancreatic cancer. Since then, GoFundMe's objective has been raised to $60,000.

The 64-year-old father of Nails of LA founder and Hollywood nail artist says in the GoFundMe description that while her father has had health difficulties, cancer "was the last thing we expected."

She adds: “My dad is the [sic] literally the best person, dad, husband & grandpa this doesn’t seem fair. I know things are tough for everyone right now but if you’re able to donate or share it would really help.”

The Jennifer's Body star captioned the screenshot of the fundraising page she shared on Instagram Stories, "My friend's dad just was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. If you guys are able to help please do."

After seeing her message, Fox's followers were incensed, and many questioned why she hadn't, presumably, offered to give her buddy some of her own money rather than requesting donations from her followers. Fox, whose estimated net worth is $8 million, is engaged to artist Machine Gun Kelly, whose estimated net worth is $25 million.

Fans on Reddit debated the issue of celebrities requesting fans to donate money as the controversy persisted on social media.

“If I had as much money as her, I’d cover 100% of a friend’s parent’s medical expenses before I asked strangers to,” one person commented.

Another person suggested: “The wealthy should absolutely cover this. Sorry, not sorry. Stop hoarding money and asking your much poorer fans to help.”

Fox has responded to the outrage in a harsh manner and is aware of it.

The mum-of-three wrote: “Hey weirdos do any of you have the emotional intelligence to consider that maybe Brit doesn’t want her celebrity clients donating large sums of money to her because it creates a dynamic in her working relationships that makes her uncomfortable?

“So instead she asked me to post the GoFundMe so that many people could donate small amounts of money to help them reach their goal.”

She continued: “I just obliged her request anything she needs from me personally she will ask and I will do it privately.

“One thing you’re not going to accuse me of is being miserly or lacking generosity.

“So try again on another day (probably tmrw! with some different bulls**t you bunch of psychos.”

Following Fox's criticism of her supporters for raising concerns about a sheer orange dress she was wearing, a reaction was given shortly after.

“Before you start angrily typing – those are not my nipples, calm down,” she wrote in the caption.

“They are safely and completely hidden under nipple covers so no worries, we will all live another day without a rip in the space-time continuum.

The power of social media in amplifying such fundraisers cannot be denied, and the campaign continued to receive contributions from those who were touched by the cause.
