What to bring

So, what do you think that Megan Markle brought as a Christmas gift for the Queen? She probably already has everything that she could possibly want, so what do you bring for someone who already has everything?

Not your average Christmas

The Royal Family does not celebrate Christmas like everyone else does. The Queen loves to honor her German heritage. She brings forth a lot of German traditions into their holiday celebration. One of those traditions is to open their gifts on Christmas Eve.

Finishing the tree

The youngest members of the Royal Family are tasked with putting the finishing touches on the Christmas tree. Then, presents get opened at tea time. All of the presents are laid out in the Red Drawing Room on a trestle table.

Christmas Day at church

Meghan Markle was extremely nervous. This would be the longest amount of time that she would spend with her soon-to-be in-laws. This video, captured on Christmas Day, shows the nervous actress going to church with the Royals. At around the 2:30 mark, you can see Kate Middleton showing Markle how to curtsy to the Queen.

Christmas gift traditions

Since the Queen pretty much has everything that she could possibly want, the tradition for them is to exchange gag gifts or small, cheap items that are good for a laugh. The Queen just loves funny gifts.

Prior funny gifts

Prince Anne once gave Prince Charles a white leather toilet seat. Kate has given Harry a "grow your own girlfriend" kit. Harry even gave the Queen a shower cap that said, "Ain't Life A B*tch" on it.

Who doesn't love a gag gift?

There are certain members of the family that are not comfortable with giving gag gifts. Kate, especially, struggled with finding a suitable gift for the Queen. One time she just gave her some homemade chutney.

Did Meghan go practical or funny?

So, now you are probably wondering if Meghan went with a practical or funny gift for Her Majesty. Since she is Harry's girl, she opted for a gag gift. It is reported that the Queen absolutely loved her gift even though she ended up passing it off to her dogs. She gave the queen a stuffed, singing hampster and the Queen was absolutely delighted. She burst into laughter as one of her prize corgies stole the toy away from her.

Happy corgis

A source close to the Royal Family said, "Meghan bought a little hamster that sings with a little rope for Her Majesty. It was so funny, especially when the corgis tried to take hold of the toy. The Queen laughed and said ‘they can keep my dogs company’."

Winning!

It appears that Meghan is making quite the favorable impression on her soon to be Royal in-laws. If only we all could buy our in-laws singing stuffed animals for Christmas. Holidays would definitely be a lot less stressful. We all know that Christmas with our in-laws can be nervewracking, but it looks like Meghan is definitely earning her place within the family.
