After giving up her career in the adult industry to post her own work on OnlyFans, Mia Khalifa is now making a fortune. Media stars, celebrities, adult entertainers, and influencers who occasionally give private, X-rated content are fond of this subscription-based site. Mia Khalifa, a former star on PornHub, is among them. Khalifa is the highest-paid ex-porn star on the subscription service, according to the International Business Times.
On her ShowTime program Ziwe, Khalifa recently revealed to Ziwe Fumudoh that she earns about $10,000 (£8,200, AUD 14,200) every day from the subscription service.
You might say Khalifa is laughing all the way to the bank compared to the USD $12,000 ($AUD 17,000, £9,800) she earned during her three-month pornographic career.
And she doesn't have to split any profits with producers; she gets to keep the whole thing.
Khalifa has previously urged people not to get into the porn industry, stating that the videos she made will 'haunt' her until the day she dies.
"Long story short: don't do porn. And if you do, don't do it with a company," Khalifa said back in 2020.
"Do it for yourself, on your own terms."
She specifically called out porn users and urged them to be aware of the source of their X-rated stuff.
"If you consume porn, make sure it's ethical and not from giant corporations who profit off exploiting women," she said.
"Like your groceries, shop local and direct from the creators."
Late in 2020, Khalifa began using the subscription-only site.
Khalifa's profile states that her content is "Safe for work, but spicy," despite the fact that OnlyFans is mostly intended to exchange explicit material.
"I am finally growing into my self-confidence in who I am and the decisions I make for me, and this is my way of being myself outside the perimeters of conventional social media," she said after launching her OnlyFans account.
"Even though I will not be creating nude content, I am going to be treating this page like my Instagram without [the] terms of service."
She added: "I want to take my power back and just post what I want and what makes me feel good, and I'm just so thankful that y'all are along for this wild ride."
In October 2014, Khalifa started working in the porn industry and soon gained popularity. In December of the same year, she surpassed all other performers as the most sought-after on PornHub.
She faced harsh criticism for appearing in one of the videos wearing a headscarf, as well as death threats from Islamic organizations in the Middle East.
This criticism was incredibly ironic given that, in 2015, PornHub data showed that more than 25% of her audience was from the Middle East.
She quit the industry after only a few months because of the unfavorable press she was getting.
