Hero Teacher Shields Three Students From Deadly Tornado, Then Receives A Miracle Gift
#1 Teacher and mother
A first grade teacher from Moore, OK, Karen Marinelli is also the mother of four energetic boys.
#2 Monster tornado
Back in May of 2013, a monster EF5 tornado struck this Oklahoma town killing 25, which included 7 children from the school she teaches at.
#3 Devastation
Karen tried her best to protect Liam, Damian and Dacari (all of them 6-year-old) after noticing how one of the brick walls from the school crushed right behind of her. It was at that very moment that a car landed in their room leaving Karen trapped while she crouched to protect the three students.
#4 Survivor
Due to her brave efforts, the three students survived without any harm. However, Karen was brought to the hospital with some fractured vertebrae, sprained ankles, separated ligaments and a broken back. These injuries left Karen in a wheelchair for the next three months.
#5 Grateful families
Here's a picture of Karen with Liam, Damian and Dacari, the three students that survived thanks to her bravery. Their families brought attention to her situation and made sure that the community helped her during the recovery phase.
#6 A sign from above
Karen started getting boxes with gifts from people who she didn't even know. One of those boxes she received had diapers and baby girl clothes inside, but as she mentions, she wasn't planning on having another child, and definitely not a girl. But this particular gift could be considered a sign from above..
#7 A Miracle
Karen than learned that she was pregnant, and it was a girl! Baby Lily arrived happy and Healthy on May 8th.
