Most of this is down to the fact that a very young child is pretty much like a hungry a fire alarm that poops itself constantly. Getting them to just be quiet for two minutes, or even better, go to sleep, can often seem like an exercise in futility.

Of course, once you manage to get the child to close their eyes and take a nap, you then face the far more challenging task of getting it to stay asleep. That means that you have to turn off the TV, mute the laptop, and forget about listening to music without headphones in case baby stirs from its slumber and decides to squeeze in a few more hours of rampant screaming.

A video has been doing the rounds this week which shows just how far one mummy was prepared to go so her baby could get some decent shut-eye. Security cam footage showed her trying to make a surreptitious escape from her sleeping baby’s bedroom.

The ridiculous footage shows Caryn Morris, who hails from Durban, South Africa, stealthily creeping out of her infant son Brody’s room while he sleeps. The footage was posted on social media by her husband, Tyrone, who said that it made him laugh so much he had to share it online.

Commenting on the video, Caryn stated; “We had guests at home for dinner and because he sensed people were around he was moaning and wanted to get out the cot. Every time I walked out the room he would stand up and moan.”

She continued: “I decided to sit on the floor next to the cot so he could see me. He then just lay there with his eyes a little bit open. I lay back and noticed he didn’t flinch or move or try and get out the cot. I slithered a little bit and he still remained on his side. Before I knew I had made it out the door and he hadn’t moved. I was too nervous to go back in the room to see if his eyes were open.”

It’s clear that Caryn and Tyrone are going to be pretty good parents if they’re that concerned that their son’s sleep is undisturbed. But on the other hand, we’ve seen a lot more parents who have gone viral for all the wrong reasons.
