Man Who Traveled To All 197 Countries Reveals The One Place He Felt The Most Unsafe
A man who has managed to visit every country on the planet has now revealed which place made him feel the most unsafe during his travels.
YouTuber Drew Binsky has filled his passport more than most people could dream of, covering all 197 countries around the globe. With that experience, he has built up a wide range of views on the places he has been, from the most welcoming to the most dangerous.
While many of us can only say we’ve traveled to a few vacation hotspots in Europe, Drew has gone everywhere, even to countries that most governments warn against visiting. That includes places many of us wouldn’t dare step foot in.
From war zones to countries with strict laws, there are plenty of areas travelers tend to avoid. For example, very few people can say they’ve stepped foot in North Korea. Drew, however, has managed it all.
Of course, some experiences stood out more than others. He once mentioned Chad as being the scariest destination he had ever been to. But more recently, he listed five places where he personally felt the most unsafe while traveling.
He explained: "I travelled to every country in the world. Here are the five places I felt most unsafe. Number one is Mogadishu, which is the capital of the East African country Somalia."
"This place has no rules, no laws. Al-Shabaab is present, which is an off-shoot of Al-Qaeda. Every time you leave your hotel you have to have a convoy in the front and back with four bulletproof vest military guys sitting on the beds of each truck with huge AK-47s in their hand, scouting out the area before you go."
"Last time I went, I visited my friend at the Hyatt Hotel, which actually is gone because it was attacked. It's just very scary and very unfortunate."
At the moment, the UK government has a clear warning against traveling to Somalia, citing the ongoing threat from terrorist groups and the overall violence in the country.
For those curious, Drew didn’t just stop at naming Somalia. He also listed Conakry in Guinea, Kandahar in Afghanistan, Port-au-Prince in Haiti, and Tripoli in Libya as some of the other locations where he felt most unsafe.
On the other hand, he also revealed that his favorite destination of all time is the Philippines, a country he has praised highly for its beauty, safety, and welcoming people.
He described it this way: "I think it's the most beautiful country in the world, super safe and full of nice people. It's like everything you could want in one country."
Still, as impressive as Drew’s travels are, they don’t top Danish explorer Thor Pedersen’s achievement. Thor managed to visit every country in the world without once setting foot on an airplane, which takes the idea of adventure travel to another level entirely.
