Aiden was scared of his own bedroom for weeks, even while he wasn't sleeping.

‘If you took him to his room he would scream,’ Claire said.

Claire claimed she continued hearing a male voice making 'shushing' sounds in her sleep throughout this period, but she assumed she was dreaming.

The startled pair realized the noise was coming from Aiden's room when Jamie heard the voice as well.

Claire said: ‘It’s a shame we didn’t click earlier. We were quite scared ourselves because we’d been changing him in the room. We didn’t know what this weirdo had seen.’

‘It terrifies me to think someone was watching him. I was really upset to think someone could have been watching him and I feel really guilty. He’d been upset for weeks and I hadn’t clicked.’

They decided to stay up and try to catch the man, but their parents fell asleep before 2 a.m. and decided to simply throw away the monitor.

Claire said: I feel so guilty that I didn’t realize sooner. We unplugged the monitor and within a few weeks he was sleeping again.

‘We had to get him used to his bedroom again by taking him in during the day and playing with him in there.’

‘We’d heard about it happening to other people but we didn’t think it would happen to us.’

‘The WiFi monitors look really modern and you can watch your child from two different phones at the same time. I could watch my baby sleeping while I was at work.’

‘We had a password but that didn’t make it safer. I don’t know how it happened.’

The business also stated that internet-connected gadgets that display any information that could make the device harmful are not permitted.

This Victure model, which retailed for £19.99, no longer appears to be available on Amazon.

Another of Victure's models, the 1080p, was evaluated by a consumer magazine Which? two years ago, and the researchers concluded it was 'worryingly simple' to acquire root access to it.
