She said she doesn't tolerate that kind of behavior.
A mom from Mississippi is receiving heaps of praise after she turned her two sons over to the police.
They were accused of shooting at officers during an attempt to escape a traffic stop.
She instantly recognized her sons, aged 18 and 17, in the doorbell video footage that Holly Springs Police released while searching for them.
The following day, she didn't hesitate to take her sons to the police station herself.
She made it clear she won't stand for such behavior from her boys.
In an interview with WMC, the mom, whose name wasn't disclosed, shared her immediate reaction: "I was like, 'Are you serious? Oh, hell no.'"
"I woke up and started asking them questions. I don't mess around. I told them if you're going to commit a crime, you're going to face the consequences, plain and simple."
The incident reportedly occurred early in the morning at around 4:30 am on Tuesday, April 2.
Holly Springs officers tried to stop a car, identified as a red Kia Forte, which was being driven erratically without its headlights on.
When the car didn't pull over, the police chase began, and shortly after, at least two shots were fired from the suspects' car.
Holly Springs Police Chief Darryl Bowens described the situation as extremely dangerous for both the officers and any bystanders present at that time.
He emphasized the gravity of the threat posed by the incident.
The alert about the incident was quickly shared with other local law enforcement agencies.
Soon after, a Marshall County deputy observed the suspects abandoning the car and fleeing into the woods.
The crucial footage from a nearby Ring doorbell camera was obtained by the police and shared publicly, leading to the young men's identification by their mother.
When she confronted her sons, they claimed to be innocent.
However, after she saw them in the doorbell footage, the 'emotional' mother knew she had to do the right thing and turned them in to the authorities.
She expressed her shock and disbelief to the news outlet, saying: "My child does not get into trouble."
"He doesn't bother anybody. They don't do anything wrong. All they do is stay home and play games. So, this is very new. This is very shocking."
The 17-year-old and 18-year-old have been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.
A third individual was also questioned but has not been charged in connection with the incident.
Despite the serious accusations and the evidence presented, the mother holds onto hope that her decision to turn her sons into the police will ultimately help them clear their names.
