Mum Spends £13k And 18 Months Turning Dining Room Into A Replica Of Hogwarts
#1 Some people take things a little bit too far, and as much as we love Harry Potter this has to be one of those times.
But. can we still come and visit, please?
#2 Potter-enthusiast and mum of three Charlotte Kyriakou has spent one and a half years and over £13,000
...transforming the dining room of their family home in Shrewsbury, into a mini-replica of the Hogwarts dining hall. Obviously.
#3 The 31 year old started the unusual renovation project after being left gobsmacked following a trip to the Harry Potter Warner Bros studios.
And the entire family including husband Andrew, 39, and kids Eleni, Max, and Kiri have fallen head over heels with the unusual makeover. And all of their guests, we assume
#4 She said:
We're all pretty obsessed with Harry Potter as a family. We went down to London to go to the studios, and we thought "Why can't we do this at home?"‘.
#5 They just had to relocate the lounge to entirely different part of the house first, no biggie.
#6 And then began the task of sourcing all of the materials and props to make the room seem like it could actually be in Hogwarts.
#7 And not to judge the family for their valiant and very impressive efforts, but I can’t help but judge them a little bit for the Sainsbury’s robes.
#8 If you’re going to spend £209 on an iPad to attach to the wall, you should probably invest in some more serious wizarding robes.
#9 She said:
‘My husband did the wooden panels himself, and then ever since we decided we wanted to do it we have been collecting odd bits and bobs from antique shops. We have a lot of replica props and two original props from the films.'
#10 They could also really do with an owl, just sayin’.
And if you're thinking ‘boy, I bet they have great dinner parties' you, sir, are correct.
#11 We hosted a Halloween party here last year and I tried to make it look like a banquet,’ Charlotte recalls.
‘I made a chocolate frog cheesecake with the Hogwarts crest in the middle.'
#12 Blood, sweat and tears have gone into this room,’ she said.
‘I did suggest to Andrew that we could do with an extra bedroom, but we can't move and leave that room. I don't know what we'd do.'
