As parents, we know our children from the inside out. This father however was sitting on a deep dark secret that he felt her fiance should know before committing to a lifetime with her.

OP's daughter, 25, was in a happy relationship with what sounds like a wonderful guy. OP's only concern is that his own daughter is a diagnosed sociopath.

For those that don't know sociopathy is a subset of Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD). The terms psychopathy and sociopathy themselves don't appear within the DSM-5 which is the 5th edition of the 'Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Illnesses'.

OP went on to say that his daughter had exhibited strange behavior when she was younger and was even abusive towards her younger sister.

She continued to get into trouble for cruel behavior throughout elementary school and was finally diagnosed at the age of 18.

Once she received the help she needed, she fell into line and was able to become successful and a valuable member of society.

OP added that his daughter was also very charming and had a talent for attracting men. She was also currently in a relationship with a 'kind, funny and intelligent' guy. A happy ending to a difficult story? Not quite.

OP doubted whether she actually loved her fiance. He said that he had open conversations with his daughter regarding her emotions and was skeptical as to whether she actually felt them. He also added that she admitted to not feeling love or empathy.

He also mentioned an incident where she exhibited emotions she never felt at the funeral of a close friend. She later admitted to putting up an act.

She also added that she had an inability to feel guilt. OP doubted whether she felt any real feelings for her boyfriend.

Her boyfriend on the other hand was head over heels and was looking to pop the question soon. OP was concerned that he had no idea about the diagnosis.

OP gave his daughter an ultimatum saying that she needed to come clean before they got married. She said OP wouldn't dare spill her secret but OP was on the fence.

He said that he didn't want to jeopardize his daughter's future but was also empathetic to her boyfriend's situation.

Commenters were confused about the situation but understood OP's take.

Some even wondered about future children considering genetic factors contribute to the development of ASPD.

Most however agreed this was all above Reddit's paygrade.
