'My Mother Got Pregnant By My Father-In-Law To Make My Marriage Incestuous'

She's been with her husband for a decade, celebrating their engagement the day before discovering they were expecting twin boys, now three years old.

Despite the joy within her own little family, her mother's interference has been a dark shadow looming over her happiness, stirring up family discord since her childhood.

This led to her father's departure and subsequent remarriage, a decision spurred by her mother's continuous infidelity and harsh treatment.

Reflecting on the past, she recounted, "The issues arose on my 16th birthday when I went to live with my dad due to the emotional abuse from my mother,".

Her mother's manipulative tactics included urging her to end her relationship with her husband because, in her disturbing words, 'wanted him' and believed 'he was the man for her not me', all the while insulting her by calling her 'fat and ugly.'

Initially choosing to cut off contact with her mother, the discovery of her pregnancy prompted her to reconsider, hoping her twins could have a grandmother in their lives.

"I found out she had been to therapy and counseling and assured myself she had changed, to which, over time I believed she really had."

Yet, her pregnancy marked the start of what she calls a 'nightmare'. 

At her baby shower, seven months into her pregnancy, her mother made a shocking scene by professing her love for her daughter's husband and making an outrageous demand that he impregnate her instead, proposing that the couple terminate their pregnancy with the twins:

"She said she deserved my life, and my children, rather than me. She even suggested if I didn't terminate she could adopt them and pretend she was the mother and play happy families with my partner."

Despite vowing never to see her mother again and merely informing her of the twins' healthy arrival, she admits to spending the past year tentatively 'building trust':

"Seeing the effort she put into changing, I started allowing her to come to the park with myself and family, which later progressed to things like lunches, soft plays, days out," she said.

However, as the couple prepared for an overseas wedding, her mother unveiled a 'baby bombshell' that left them utterly 'blindsided':

"My mother told everyone she had a surprise and announced she was pregnant, which came as a big shock, then she announced the father was my husband's father, and that they were engaged."

After confronting her mother with the pain and suffering caused since childhood, the couple went ahead with their overseas wedding.

Upon their return, they were met with more chaos: "My mother turned up protesting that we split and give our babies up for adoption or hand them over, as we are horrible and don't deserve our boys, as we will all be siblings and siblings shouldn't be having children. She said we are an incestuous family and she'll be ringing the police."

Sharing this bewildering and abusive scenario, she sought the opinion of Reddit users on her contemplation to move overseas for her husband's job, aiming to escape the 'crazy train'.

The community rallied behind her, with one advising, "I say cut all contact from her and your father-in-law forever, because your mother will never change and anyone who supports that is more or less just like her."

Another echoed the sentiment, "Move very far away and cut all them out of your life."

Some offered guidance based on their experiences: "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time."

Another who had suffered emotional abuse shared: "My mum faked cancer to try and end my marriage. I believe narcissists are capable of anything. If this is in any way true – run like your pants are on fire."
