Turmeric is an important ingredient in Indian and Chinese medicine. The curcumin found in this plant is said to have a variety of medicinal benefits, including combating Alzheimer's and cancer. Research has found that turmeric is effective in helping to prevent lung, liver, and bowel disease. The bright yellow, curry-like spice has a proven anti-inflammatory effect. It has particularly good results in cases of arthritis. Here are two tasty recipes that make it easy to incorporate this natural wonder into your daily routine.

#2 Turmeric milk

We all know hot milk and honey from those days when we feel under the weather. But hot milk with turmeric is still relatively unknown in the Western world, even though it is a very popular drink in India. It warms you from the inside out - the perfect winter drink. When you drink curcumin, it works as a protective layer in your mouth and throat, making it difficult for germs to survive there.

Here's what you need:

Organic Turmeric (ground) - 1 tsp

Milk or a non-dairy alternative like almond milk - 200 ml

Brown sugar and cinnamon - to taste

Preparation:

Pour the milk of your choice into a pot and warm it on the stove. Do not boil the milk. Remove the pot from the heat and add the ground turmeric. Stir the mixture until the powder is fully dissolved in the liquid. You may add cinnamon and/or brown sugar to your 'golden milk' to taste.

#3 Hot lemon water with turmeric

This vitamin bomb makes you well equipped to withstand flu season. Lemon, with its high vitamin C content, mixed together with turmeric, strengthens your immune system and protects your throat from cold-causing bacteria. To top it off, you can also add some ginger, which gives the drink a little extra zing. Ginger also has the added bonus of being a natural anti-headache and anti-nausea agent. If you already have a cold, this warm drink should help you get back on your feet.

Here's what you need:

Freshly squeezed lemon juice

Organic Turmeric - 1/4 tsp

Ginger (to taste)

Preparation:

Peel the ginger and put it in a mug. Fill the mug 3/4 of the way full with boiling water. Then let the water cool a bit. Any vitamins in lemon juice are immediately destroyed at temperatures above 140° F. Once the water has cooled down, add the fresh lemon juice. Finally, add the turmeric, stirring until dissolved.

Colds are booming at the moment. But with these two hot drinks, you will survive the winter without any problems. This little root packs a punch! Try it out for yourself.
