The Zammits have earned the title of 'the world's most stubborn family' after standing their ground and refusing to sell their home.

The property they own is located in a lovely area near Sydney, Australia, surrounded by expansive land.

What used to be a neighborhood filled with similar red-bricked homes has drastically changed over the years.

Now, their house stands out dramatically as it's the last one standing in the middle of a newly developed area.

This transformation happened because developers demolished the surrounding homes, replacing them with modern, grey-roofed buildings.

The Zammits' land could have easily become part of this new housing development, but they turned down all offers—and continue to do so.

With no intention of selling, the new homes have simply been built around their nearly five-acre property.

It’s been reported that the family has been offered between AU $33 million (US $22 million) and AU $40 million (US $27 million) for their land.

Real estate agent Taylor Bredin has noted that their land could accommodate up to 50 houses if subdivided into smaller blocks, each valued at around AU $1 million (US $690,000) for 3,200-square-foot parcels.

According to reports from MailOnline, nearby parcels were selling for as much as $239 per square meter in 2012.

Despite these figures, the Zammits have chosen to hold onto their property, much to the frustration of developers.

However, their decision has received strong support from the local community, with their neighbors fully backing them for sticking to their guns and not giving in to pressure to sell.

"It doesn’t really bother us," said one neighbor to the Mail. "It's their land, and they should be able to do what they want with it."

Another neighbor added, ""If I had that property, I would do the same thing," expressing their solidarity with the family’s decision.

Other neighbors have echoed these sentiments in the past, fully supporting the Zammits in keeping their land.

One resident previously mentioned to 7News: "The fact that most people sold out years and years ago, these guys have held on. All credit to them."

Another neighbor, who lives nearby, added, "I'm very happy they've refused to sell," said a second who lives close by.

"It means we have a cul-de-sac which is much safer for our kids - and their big lawn next to us makes it feel like we've got so much space."

The Zammits aren’t the only ones holding on to their family home despite massive offers.

In Augusta, a resident named Elizabeth Thacker has also refused to sell her property, which is located right on the doorstep of the famous Augusta National Golf Club.

Even though the club has been buying up neighboring properties to expand, Thacker has no plans to budge.

Meanwhile, a couple down the street accepted over $1 million for their home, but that hasn’t swayed her decision.

And the Zammits aren't alone in wanting to stick it to the man; Augusta resident Elizabeth Thacker has also turned down stacks of cash to sell her home in the US.

The home where she raised her family with her late husband is located on the doorstep of the Augusta National Golf Club.

The club has bought homes nearby to expand the course, but Thacker isn't budging despite a couple down the street getting over $1 million for their property.
