Restaurants cannot function without servers yet they are some of the lowest paid employees in the United States. They basically make their living off of the tips they get because their checks are so small it's laughable. Think about that the next time you decide not to tip one. For those of you who refuse to tip properly this (sarcastic) article is just for you. You'll find all the justification you need for being a terrible person.

#1 They get huge paychecks.
We touched on this before but yeah, servers get paid big money so why should you pay them anything extra? Look at this massive pay check.
#2 They are not required to know much so they don't need the extra money.
How hard can it be to just take an order and bring a plate out? It's not rocket science. Still:

#3 They don't have to worry about dinner because they work at a restaurant.
So you think that just because your server is an employee they get to eat for free or get some major discount? Think again, they still pay for whatever they eat and in most cases get no discount.
#4 They screw up orders all the time.
This one is sure to give you plenty of justification right? They can't even get your food right. I mean they are the ones who cooked what you asked for right? Oh, wait...

#5 They are irreplaceable so their managers will make sure they are paid well.
It's not like servers are a dime a dozen or anything. They probably get great benefits and awesome vacation time too. Or maybe not.

#6 Once you leave they are done dealing with you.
Go ahead, let your kids make a mess at the table and leave it that way. Don't bother leaving a tip for it. The table magically cleans itself for the next customer.

#7 They spend all day looking at hot people and flirting with them.
Your server doesn't deserve extra money because they spent the entire time flirting with your mate. The only tip they deserve is a rude message left on the bill. Outside of Hooters this imagined flirting probably doesn't actually happen anywhere and even then it's expected.

#8 All they do is take orders, bring out plates and wipe down tables.
Why should they get extra money? It's not like they do anything that's not food related.

It doesn't take much skill to be a server. Any idiot out of high school can do it, especially in high-end establishments. They can effortlessly wait on 5 or 6 tables all at once.

It's not like the servers have to split their tips with others or anything... oh wait yes they do.
Don't be a dick, tip people what they deserve. They are busting their ass to make your night as pleasurable as possible and makes ends meet. Help them out.
