The holiday season is officially underway, which means the surge of shoppers looking to purchase gifts for loved ones has kicked off too. For some, the time of year can be a financially stressful one, especially for parents looking to get their kids’ favorite toy. Sometimes though, Santa comes early.
New Jersey Man Paid Off Layaways For Random People Totalling To Over $10K Worth Of Toys
A man identified as "Charlie K" came to get some Black Friday shopping done with his son from Toys "R" Us in Cherry Hill. Instead of buying things for his son, Charlie paid for 60 layaway orders — adding up to 8,000 toys worth $10,000.
He also asked everyone in the store to pick out three toys to donate to a charity run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve that donates toys to kids whose parents can't afford them on Christmas.
CBS News anchor Pat Gallen was also reporting there at the time, he broadcast his act of kindness live. Charlie K told CBS News,"I'm trying to bring some happiness to people, to the community that brought happiness to me and my family, I love this community and I am trying to provide back to it."
Gallen also shared a photo of Charlie K on Twitter, along with the caption:
This is Charlie K.
While doing a segment @ToysRUs in Cherry Hill, Charlie walked in & decided to pay off all items on layaway. Over 8,000 toys!
Charlie also had everyone in the store pick 3 items for @ToysForTots_USA& paid for those too. Amazing generosity. Thank you, Charlie.
The Twitter users were touched by his act of kindness.
One user wrote: "Great job Charlie! Thanks for sharing Pat- keep the positive vibes going."
